نظرة عامة

Scope of the Report

The global N-Ethyldiethanolamine market size is predicted to grow from US$ 14.69 million in 2025 to US$ 18.98 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.7% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global sales volume of N-Ethyldiethanolamine was approximately 2,100 tonnes, with an average manufacturer-level selling price of around US$6.8 per kilogram. Gross margins of major producers were generally in the range of 30%–42%.

N-Ethyldiethanolamine is an alkanolamine compound containing one tertiary amine group and two hydroxyl groups. It has a CAS number of 139-87-7 and a molecular formula of C₆H₁₅NO₂. In its molecular structure, the nitrogen atom is bonded to one ethyl group and two hydroxyethyl groups, providing the compound with the alkalinity, nucleophilicity and catalytic activity associated with tertiary amines, as well as the hydrophilicity and further reactivity imparted by hydroxyl groups. The product is typically a colorless to pale-yellow transparent liquid, miscible with water and various polar organic solvents. It has a relatively high boiling point and low volatility and can participate in neutralization, quaternization, esterification, etherification and polymer modification reactions, making it a typical multifunctional fine chemical intermediate.

The upstream raw materials for N-Ethyldiethanolamine mainly include ethylamine, ethylene oxide and diethanolamine. The addition reaction between ethylamine and ethylene oxide is one of the principal industrial production routes, while the product can also be manufactured through the N-ethylation of diethanolamine. The production process generally involves addition or alkylation reactions, dehydration, light-ends removal and distillation purification. Downstream, N-Ethyldiethanolamine is mainly used in the synthesis of pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates, quaternary ammonium compounds, surfactants, water treatment chemicals, coating and ink additives, gas treatment agents, and other functional compounds containing tertiary amine and hydroxyl groups.
