Scope of the Report

The global Thermosetting Epoxidized Phenol Novolac Resin market size is predicted to grow from US$ 223 million in 2025 to US$ 334 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.6% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, the global sales volume of Thermosetting Epoxidized Phenol Novolac Resin reached 60.18 k tons, with a global average price of 3,605 US$/MT and an industry average gross margin of 26.38%.

The major upstream raw materials include phenol, cresol, epichlorohydrin, sodium hydroxide, solvents, and others.

Major upstream suppliers include INEOS, LG Chem, Sinopec, Sasol, LANXESS, Celanese, BASF, Olin, LOTTE Fine Chemical, Westlake, OxyChem, Nan Ya Plastics, and others.

Major downstream customers include Sumitomo Bakelite, Resonac, Shin-Etsu Chemical, Kyocera, Henkel, Taiwan Union Technology, Elite Material, Isola, Kingboard, and others.

Thermosetting Epoxidized Phenol Novolac Resin is a type of multifunctional epoxy resin produced by using linear phenol novolac resin formed through the condensation reaction of phenol and formaldehyde as the basic molecular backbone and introducing multiple epoxy groups into the molecular structure through an epoxidation reaction. Compared with conventional bisphenol A-based epoxy resins, Thermosetting Epoxidized Phenol Novolac Resin generally features higher average functionality and higher crosslinking density. After the addition of curing agents such as amines, anhydrides, or phenolic curing agents and subsequent thermal curing, it can form a dense three-dimensional thermosetting crosslinked network, thereby providing a higher glass transition temperature, excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, moisture and heat resistance, electrical insulation properties, and dimensional stability. The product may be supplied in the form of high-viscosity liquids, semi-solids, or solids, while key performance indicators generally include epoxy equivalent weight, average functionality, softening point, viscosity, total chlorine content, and hydrolyzable chlorine content. Depending on differences in purity, functionality, and molecular structure, Thermosetting Epoxidized Phenol Novolac Resin can be used in high-temperature-resistant coatings, structural adhesives, composites, copper-clad laminates, electrical insulation materials, semiconductor packaging materials, and other applications, and is particularly suitable for electrical, electronic, and high-performance material applications that require high heat resistance, chemical resistance, and long-term reliability.
