Scope of the Report
The global Sulfided Metal Oxide Mercury Removal Adsorbent market size is predicted to grow from US$ 97 million in 2025 to US$ 129 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.1% from 2026 to 2032.
Sulfided Metal Oxide Mercury Removal Adsorbents are a class of non-regenerable fixed-bed adsorbents. They feature metal sulfides (such as copper sulfide) as the core active phase—or utilize metal oxides that form the active phase through pre-sulfidation or in-situ sulfidation. Typically supported on activated alumina, mixed metal oxides, or other porous inorganic materials, these products immobilize mercury as stable mercury sulfide through an irreversible reaction between the metal sulfide and elemental mercury; they are primarily used to remove trace mercury from natural gas, LNG feed gas, and liquid hydrocarbons.
Upstream raw materials mainly include pseudoboehmite, activated alumina, mixed metal oxides, and other porous inorganic supports. Raw materials for active components consist primarily of copper salts, other metal salts, elemental sulfur, and sulfiding agents, supplemented by binders, pore-forming agents, and shaping aids. Midstream processing involves support shaping, impregnation or co-shaping of metal components, drying and calcination, pre-sulfidation or in-situ sulfidation, screening, and performance testing to produce spherical or granular products. Downstream applications primarily involve deployment in fixed-bed units within natural gas processing, LNG pretreatment, oil refining, petrochemical, and industrial gas facilities.
Global sales volume in 2025 is approximately 8,600 metric tons, with prices typically ranging from $9 to $14 per kilogram, depending on factors such as copper sulfide content, support strength, water resistance, and loading scale; major manufacturers achieve gross margins of approximately 25%–38%.
