Scope of the Report

An oximeter is a portable device that measures blood oxygen levels by looking at how well the blood absorbs light. The device works by using two beams of light (one red light and one infrared light) to penetrate the finger. The absorption of these lights differs significantly between oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. Blood full of oxygen absorbs more infrared light, allowing more red light to pass through. Blood without enough oxygen absorbs more red light, allowing more infrared light to pass through. The test is fast, simple and non-invasive (no needles required).
