Scope of the Report

The global Solar Collector Tube market size is predicted to grow from US$ 340 million in 2025 to US$ 421 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.1% from 2026 to 2032.

A solar collector tube is a tubular solar thermal component designed to absorb solar radiation and transfer the resulting heat to water or a heat-transfer fluid with reduced thermal losses. A typical tube consists of borosilicate glass, an evacuated annular space, selective absorber coating, getter materials, sealing structures, and, depending on the design, a heat pipe, U-pipe, direct-flow channel, or glass-metal joint. The product is mainly used in domestic and commercial solar water heating, space-heating support, district heating, industrial low- and medium-temperature process heat, agricultural drying, and solar thermal engineering systems. This study focuses on evacuated solar collector tubes and direct tube assemblies, including all-glass evacuated tubes, heat-pipe evacuated tubes, U-pipe or direct-flow evacuated tubes, CPC evacuated tube structures, and medium-temperature evacuated collector tubes.

Based on our research, the solar collector tube industry should be understood as a component-manufacturing segment within the solar thermal value chain rather than as a complete solar water-heater market. The technical value of the product lies in vacuum insulation, selective absorber coating, glass sealing, getter performance, heat-transfer structure, and long-term weather resistance. China has built a large-scale manufacturing base around all-glass evacuated tubes, supported by national standards and a dense supplier network covering borosilicate glass, coating, vacuum sealing, tube assembly, and complete solar water-heater production. In contrast, European and selected Taiwanese suppliers tend to focus more on CPC, direct-flow, heat-pipe, and medium-temperature designs for higher-efficiency heating applications.

Demand is shifting from household solar water heaters toward a more mixed structure. Residential solar hot-water systems remain the largest end-use, but new installations have weakened, especially in China. At the same time, commercial hot water, district heating, industrial low- and medium-temperature heat, and replacement demand provide more resilient opportunities. In 2024, global solar water collector additions were about 17.8 GWth / 25.4 million square meters, and China still accounted for roughly 64% of global sales, although its market continued to decline. Evacuated tubes remain structurally important because they represented around 61.2% of newly installed global solar water-collector capacity in 2023, but their regional concentration is high, with China and India being much more tube-oriented than Europe or North America.

From the product-route perspective, the evacuated solar collector tube market is no longer driven by a single mainstream design. All-glass evacuated tubes remain the cost-effective and volume-oriented product route, especially in China and other price-sensitive markets, where mature borosilicate glass processing, selective coating, vacuum sealing, and large-scale assembly capabilities support low-cost production. Heat-pipe evacuated tubes, U-pipe tubes, direct-flow tubes, and CPC evacuated tube assemblies represent higher-value routes, mainly used in split pressurized systems, commercial hot-water projects, space-heating support, district heating, and low- to medium-temperature industrial process heat. Medium-temperature evacuated tubes and glass-metal sealed structures provide a narrower but more technically differentiated growth direction, as they are better suited for higher operating temperatures, improved thermal efficiency, and project-based solar thermal applications. As a result, future competition will be increasingly segmented: standard all-glass tubes will remain cost- and scale-driven, while heat-pipe, U-pipe, CPC, and medium-temperature products will compete more on efficiency, durability, certification, system integration capability, and engineering performance.
