Scope of the Report

The global Biochar for Building Materials market size is predicted to grow from US$ 30.13 million in 2025 to US$ 339 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 41.5% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global sales volume of Biochar for Building Materials is estimated at approximately 28,000 tons, with an average market price of about USD 1,100 per ton. The gross margin of major producers is generally in the range of 25%–40%.

Biochar for Building Materials refers to a porous carbonaceous material produced from biomass feedstocks such as wood, straw, rice husk and bamboo through pyrolysis under oxygen-free or oxygen-limited conditions, and used in building material systems such as gypsum products, concrete, mortar, bricks and tiles. The product is typically incorporated into building material formulations in powder, granular or slurry form. Relying on its stable carbon structure, porous morphology and relatively low density, it can provide carbon sequestration and emission reduction, lightweighting, thermal insulation, internal curing, humidity regulation and filler modification functions. Its performance is highly affected by feedstock source, pyrolysis temperature, particle size, specific surface area, ash content, water absorption and dispersibility. In practical applications, dosage and compatibility need to be controlled according to the specific building material system.

The upstream of Biochar for Building Materials mainly includes biomass feedstocks such as wood chips, straw, rice husk and bamboo, as well as pyrolysis furnaces, carbonization equipment, crushing and classification equipment, and surface modification additives. The midstream consists of biochar producers and functional filler suppliers for building materials, which produce powder, granular or slurry products suitable for building material applications through pyrolysis, activation, grinding, screening, modification and pre-dispersion processes. The downstream is mainly used in gypsum products, concrete, mortar, bricks and tiles, and other building materials.

Global key Biochar for Building Materials players cover MYNO Carbon, Novocarbo, Carbonauten, EcoLocked, Standard Biocarbon, etc.
