Scope of the Report
The global Lithium Battery Tabs market size is predicted to grow from US$ 980 million in 2025 to US$ 2,053 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 11.4% from 2026 to 2032.
Lithium battery tabs are metal conductors that extend from the positive and negative electrodes of the soft-pack core. The battery is divided into positive and negative electrodes. The positive tabs are usually made of aluminum, while the negative tabs are made of nickel or copper-plated nickel. They are both made of a composite of a film and a metal strip. The film is the insulating part of the tab, and its main function is to prevent a short circuit between the metal strip and the aluminum-plastic film when the battery is packaged.
The selection of lithium battery tabs will be determined by the battery type, power requirements, cost considerations, and requirements of specific applications. Different battery tab materials have their own advantages and scope of application, and need to be selected by comprehensively considering conductivity, corrosion resistance, weldability, and cost factors.
There are three types of lithium battery tabs: aluminum, nickel, and nickel copper. Nickel tabs are mainly used for consumer lithium batteries; copper-plated nickel tabs are mainly used for power lithium batteries. From the perspective of product type, aluminum tabs account for a large proportion, accounting for about 47%.
The downstream of lithium battery tabs is mainly used for soft-pack batteries. The main global soft-pack battery companies are LG Chem, SKI, and Farasis Energy. From the perspective of product application, electric vehicle lithium batteries are the largest application, accounting for 72% of the share. New energy vehicles are one of the important driving factors of the industry. Global electric vehicles continue to grow rapidly. In 2023, global new energy vehicle sales will reach 14.65 million units, a year-on-year increase of 35.4%, of which China's new energy vehicle sales will reach 9.49 million units, accounting for 64.8% of global sales.
Electric vehicles have become the mainstream trend of future automotive development. As new energy vehicles are currently in a long-term upward trend in the industry, the power lithium battery tabs used in the industry benefit from this and have broad market prospects.
The global lithium battery tab production areas are mainly distributed in China, Japan and South Korea. The leading companies include SUMITOMO ELECTRIC, Shanghai Tokuen, NEPES, CLAVIS Corporation, Zhejiang Tony Electronic, Jiangsu Jiulan New Energy, Soulbrain, POLE and ELCOM CO, among which the top 5 companies have a share of nearly 46%.

Research Methodology
All MarketResearchReports.com strategic research reports follow a rigorous, multi-stage methodology combining AI-assisted data synthesis with expert analyst validation.
Systematic collection from 500+ verified sources including SEC filings, industry databases (Bloomberg, Statista, OECD), regulatory filings, trade publications, patent databases, and company annual reports. AI-assisted extraction identifies relevant data points across 10,000+ documents per report.
Dual-validation approach: bottom-up sizing aggregates segment-level production, consumption, and trade data; top-down sizing cross-validates against macroeconomic indicators and total addressable market estimates. Discrepancies >5% trigger analyst review.
Company profiles built from public financial disclosures, product launches, M&A activity, job postings (as capability proxies), and supply chain mapping. Market share estimates triangulated across revenue, capacity, and shipment data.
CAGR projections use time-series regression on 5-10 years of historical data, adjusted for identified demand drivers (technology adoption curves, regulatory catalysts, demographic shifts) and demand inhibitors (cost barriers, substitution risk). Scenario modeling covers base, optimistic, and conservative cases.
All quantitative outputs reviewed by a domain-specialist analyst before publication. Data triangulation requires minimum 3 independent sources for every key figure. Reports undergo a structured peer review against our 47-point quality checklist covering methodology, data citations, logical consistency, and formatting standards.
On-demand reports are generated at time of purchase, incorporating the most recent available data. Static reports are republished when underlying market conditions shift by >10% from baseline assumptions. Purchasers receive update notifications for 12 months.
