Scope of the Report

The global Fiber Dust Thulium Fiber Laser (TFL) Device market size is predicted to grow from US$ 86.05 million in 2025 to US$ 215 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 14.2% from 2026 to 2032.

The thulium fiber laser (TFL) is a new technology as a conceivable alternative to the Holmium: yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Ho: YAG) laser, which is currently the gold standard for an array of urologic procedures. Thulium fiber laser (TFL) uses long, thin and thulium-doped silica fiber as the active laser medium.

Holmium:YAG (Ho:YAG) lasers are widely used for lithotripsy and other surgical procedures with great success. Thulium fiber lasers (TFL) were first developed more than a decade ago and quickly established themselves as a nearly ideal surgical laser source with several advantages over Ho:YAG technology. This is due to a combination of output and operating characteristics. In terms of output, a major advantage of TFL is that it operates at a wavelength of 1940 nm, which is very close to the water absorption peak in the near infrared, meaning that light from TFL is absorbed four times more strongly than light from Ho:YAG. This wavelength is also easily transmitted through optical fiber, and relevant data show that the output of thulium lasers can be focused into optical fibers more effectively than the output of typical Ho:YAG lasers, giving thulium fiber lasers (TFL) a significant advantage in surgical applications.

TFL devices are now widely used in urological surgical procedures, including lithotripsy, prostate surgery, and en bloc tumor resection. According to data, the global prevalence of urinary stones is between 5% and 13%, with males being significantly higher than females. According to the average prevalence of 9%, there are nearly 720 million people suffering from urinary stones worldwide. It is estimated that nearly 30 million people visit doctors for urinary stones each year, of which nearly 6 million people need stone surgery. Similarly, the global prevalence of BPH in middle-aged and elderly men is 70-80%. Although only a small number of severe patients choose surgical treatment, the overall data is still quite large. In recent years, with the rapid development and penetration of technology, thulium laser TFL has become a new alternative to holmium laser with its unique technical advantages, especially for stone treatment and BPH treatment. According to our survey data, the global thulium fiber laser (TFL) treatment operation volume in 2024 has reached 700,000 times, of which stone treatment operations have exceeded 500,000 times. The main use areas are concentrated in Europe and North America, accounting for 45% and 25% of the market share respectively. Holmium laser surgery is currently widely used in China, but thulium fiber laser (TFL) treatment is showing a rapid growth trend. By 2024, the number of thulium fiber laser (TFL) treatment surgeries in China will exceed 50,000 times, and it is predicted that it will grow rapidly at an ultra-high annual compound growth rate of nearly 50% from 2025 to 2030.

Such an astonishing number of thulium fiber laser (TFL) treatment surgeries has promoted the vigorous development of the thulium fiber laser (TFL) treatment equipment market. At present, the global thulium fiber laser (TFL) treatment equipment manufacturers are mainly concentrated in Europe, the United States, Japan, and China. The main companies are Quanta System, Olympus, OmniGuide (LISA Laser), Electro Medical Systems (EMS), IPG Photonics, Rocamed, Richard-Wolf, Raykeen, Dornier MedTech, Coloplast, Potent, Rhein Laser,Biolitec, etc. According to our research data, the global sales of thulium fiber laser (TFL) treatment equipment will exceed 500 units in 2024, of which the world's top three manufacturers account for more than 40% of the market share. We expect the annual compound growth rate of global thulium fiber laser (TFL) treatment equipment to reach 15% from 2025 to 2030.

Holmium laser has been tested in clinical use for more than ten years. It has been widely studied and has become the gold standard for laser lithotripsy. However, thulium fiber laser (TFL) treatment equipment has many advantages such as high efficiency, wider parameter combinations, easy to use, multi-dimensional functions, smaller equipment, more compact system, lower maintenance cost and greater safety, and is becoming an alternative to Ho:YAG laser equipment.
