Scope of the Report

The global Diacrylate Liquid Crystal Monomers market size is predicted to grow from US$ 93.91 million in 2025 to US$ 170 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.7% from 2026 to 2032.

Diacrylate liquid crystal monomers are bifunctional reactive mesogens that contain two acrylate polymerizable end groups and a mesogenic liquid-crystalline core. They can be aligned in a liquid-crystalline phase and then crosslinked by UV or thermal free-radical polymerization to form anisotropic polymer networks. These materials are mainly used in optical compensation films, retardation films, OLED circular polarizer structures, polymer-stabilized liquid crystals, liquid crystal elastomers, holographic materials, polarization gratings, smart optical films and 3D/4D printed liquid-crystal networks.

According to our research, diacrylate liquid crystal monomers should be treated as one of the most important crosslinkable reactive mesogen segments, not as a general liquid crystal monomer market. Their core value comes from the combination of a liquid-crystalline mesogenic core and two acrylate polymerizable end groups. This structure allows the material to align in a liquid-crystal phase and then be fixed by UV or thermal free-radical polymerization, forming stable anisotropic polymer networks.

From an application perspective, the largest demand still comes from display optical films and OLED/LCD optical structures, including retardation films, optical compensation films, circular polarizer structures, anti-reflection-related layers and polymer-stabilized liquid-crystal systems. Compared with azobenzene liquid crystal monomers, diacrylate reactive mesogens are more mature and closer to industrial-scale use, especially in display-related optical film applications.

From the supply side, Merck remains the most important global display-grade reactive mesogen supplier, while Synthon Chemicals has very clear public evidence for RM257-type bifunctional reactive mesogens. Daken Chemical provides China-based product evidence for RM257 and RM82/R6M-type materials, while Jiangsu Hecheng and XAGIC are important China-based polymerizable liquid crystal or RM localization players.

Product differentiation is not only about whether a supplier can synthesize RM257 or RM82. For real optical-film and display applications, customers care about mesophase behavior, birefringence, purity, residual monomer, color, viscosity, solubility, coating-window compatibility, curing shrinkage, alignment stability, film uniformity and batch-to-batch consistency. This is why display-grade RM suppliers with formulation and customer-qualification capability have stronger competitive positions than simple catalog chemical suppliers.

Looking ahead, growth will be supported by OLED optical-film upgrades, thinner display stacks, advanced retardation films, polymer-stabilized liquid crystals, smart optical films, polarization gratings, AR/VR optical elements and liquid crystal elastomer or liquid crystal network applications. However, the market should still be modeled at the monomer/material level: downstream optical films, polarizers, LCE devices and display panels should not be included as full market revenue. The most competitive suppliers will be those combining liquid crystal molecular design, acrylate monomer synthesis, high-purity purification, formulation know-how, coating-process support and long-term customer qualification.
