Scope of the Report

The global Co-extrusion Composite Outdoor Decking market size is predicted to grow from US$ 7,935 million in 2025 to US$ 1,604 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10.7% from 2026 to 2032.

Co-extrusion Composite Outdoor Decking refers to an outdoor flooring material produced by a co-extrusion process, in which a composite core layer and a protective surface layer are extruded and bonded together at the same time. The core layer is generally made from wood flour, bamboo powder, recycled polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, mineral fillers and other composite materials, while the surface layer is usually made from weather-resistant polymers such as PE, PVC, ASA or PMMA. In addition, stabilizers, coupling agents, lubricants, pigments, UV absorbers, antioxidants and other additives are used to improve processing stability, surface appearance, weather resistance and long-term durability. Compared with traditional wood decking and ordinary WPC decking, co-extrusion composite outdoor decking has better resistance to water, sunlight, stains, mildew, scratches and fading.

The product is mainly used in outdoor spaces that require both decorative appearance and durability. Downstream applications include residential terraces, gardens, balconies, swimming pool areas, hotels, resorts, parks, boardwalks and commercial outdoor spaces. Its main customers include homeowners, real estate developers, construction contractors, landscape companies and building material distributors. Because the surface cap layer provides additional protection, the product usually requires less maintenance than natural wood and can maintain a relatively stable appearance in outdoor environments for a long period. It is therefore widely used as a substitute for anti-corrosion wood, natural timber decking and ordinary composite decking.

In 2025, global Co-extrusion Composite Outdoor Decking production reached approximately 21.27 million square meters, with an average market price of around US$38.15 per square meter.

The Co-extrusion Composite Outdoor Decking market is developing steadily as outdoor building materials continue to shift from natural wood to composite and low-maintenance materials. In many residential and commercial projects, customers are increasingly concerned about long-term durability, surface stability and maintenance cost. Traditional wood decking often requires painting, sealing, anti-corrosion treatment and regular repair, while co-extrusion composite outdoor decking can reduce these maintenance requirements through its capped surface structure. This makes the product more attractive in gardens, terraces, balconies, swimming pool areas and public landscape projects.

A major market trend is the upgrade from ordinary WPC decking to capped and co-extruded decking. Manufacturers are improving surface texture, wood grain simulation, color stability, slip resistance and stain resistance to make composite decking closer to natural wood in appearance while maintaining better durability. Product design is also becoming more diversified, including solid profiles, hollow profiles, hidden fastening systems, anti-slip surfaces and multi-color wood grain finishes. In the mid- to high-end market, consumers are paying more attention to appearance, comfort, environmental performance and service life rather than only initial purchase cost.

From a regional perspective, North America is one of the most mature markets. Outdoor living culture, residential renovation, single-family housing and garden deck replacement demand support stable consumption. Europe focuses more on sustainability, recyclability and replacement of tropical hardwood, which benefits composite decking products with recycled plastic and wood fiber content. Asia-Pacific is both a major production base and an important growth market. China has strong manufacturing capacity and export supply advantages, while Southeast Asia, Australia and other markets are seeing increasing demand from residential construction, tourism facilities and landscape projects. The Middle East and Latin America are also gradually adopting the product in hotels, resorts, waterfront projects and commercial outdoor spaces.

The main growth drivers include the expansion of outdoor living space, growth in home renovation, increasing demand for durable and weather-resistant materials, and rising labor costs for maintenance. Environmental awareness is also an important driver, as many co-extrusion composite outdoor decking products use recycled plastics and wood powder, reducing dependence on natural timber. In addition, urbanization, tourism development, commercial landscape construction and public infrastructure projects are creating more application scenarios. Technology improvement in extrusion equipment, surface cap materials and color processing also helps improve product quality and market acceptance.

However, the market still faces challenges such as resin price fluctuations, differences in product quality among suppliers, and competition from natural wood, stone, ceramic tiles and PVC flooring. In price-sensitive markets, low-cost traditional materials may still have an advantage. Nevertheless, as consumers and project owners pay more attention to long-term cost, durability, safety and environmental performance, co-extrusion composite outdoor decking is expected to maintain a positive development trend, especially in residential renovation, high-end outdoor decoration and commercial landscape applications.
