Scope of the Report
The global Data Center PDU market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1,317 million in 2025 to US$ 3,684 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16.5% from 2026 to 2032.
In 2025, global Data Center PDU production reached approximately 5.61 million units with average price of 240USD/Unit.
A Data Center PDU, or Power Distribution Unit, is a key power distribution device used at the rack level or intermediate distribution layer in data centers. It distributes power from UPS systems, switchgear, distribution panels or busways to servers, network equipment, storage systems and other IT loads. By function, data center PDUs can be classified into basic PDUs, metered PDUs, monitored PDUs, switched PDUs and intelligent PDUs. By installation type, they include rack PDUs, in-row PDUs, floor-mounted PDUs and modular PDUs. Compared with conventional power strips or industrial distribution units, data center PDUs place greater emphasis on reliability, high power density, remote monitoring, load balancing, energy metering, environmental monitoring and operational visibility. They are essential infrastructure for continuous data center operation and granular power management.
The data center PDU value chain includes upstream suppliers of circuit breakers, relays, outlet modules, copper busbars, cables, connectors, metering chips, communication modules, sensors, PCBs, power management ICs, metal enclosures, flame-retardant materials and software platforms. Electrical safety design, outlet reliability, metering accuracy, communication stability and thermal structure directly affect product performance and operational value. Midstream participants include PDU manufacturers and data center infrastructure suppliers responsible for product design, assembly, testing, intelligent monitoring integration, regulatory certification and customized delivery. Downstream customers include cloud service providers, colocation operators, internet companies, financial institutions, telecom operators, enterprise data centers, edge data centers and AI computing facilities. Because plug standards, voltage systems, rack power density and monitoring interfaces vary across regions and customers, data center PDUs have strong customization and localization requirements.
In the medium to long term, the Data Center PDU market is expected to benefit from cloud computing, AI servers, edge computing and the upgrade of data center power architectures. The IEA projects that global data center electricity consumption will reach around 945 TWh by 2030, with annual growth of about 15% from 2024 to 2030, significantly faster than overall electricity demand growth. Rising power consumption and rack density will push PDUs from basic distribution devices toward intelligent, high-density and monitorable power management nodes.
AI data centers represent the most important incremental demand driver. GPU servers, AI training clusters and high-performance computing racks typically require much higher rack power density than traditional general-purpose servers. Vertiv notes that AI/HPC rack density can rise to around 100 kW per rack, which increases requirements for rack PDU current capacity, thermal control, outlet density, remote monitoring and load management.
From a competitive perspective, Schneider Electric, Vertiv, Eaton, Raritan, Server Technology, Leviton, ABB, Delta, KSTAR and Huawei Digital Power have different strengths across regions and customer segments. Future growth will come not only from new data center construction, but also from retrofit demand, AI rack upgrades, replacement of basic PDUs with intelligent PDUs, remote operation upgrades and more granular energy management. Uptime Institute’s 2025 survey also highlights that the industry is facing higher power and density requirements, power constraints, supply-chain challenges and AI-driven uncertainty, which should reinforce demand for visible, manageable and predictable power distribution equipment.

Research Methodology
All MarketResearchReports.com strategic research reports follow a rigorous, multi-stage methodology combining AI-assisted data synthesis with expert analyst validation.
Systematic collection from 500+ verified sources including SEC filings, industry databases (Bloomberg, Statista, OECD), regulatory filings, trade publications, patent databases, and company annual reports. AI-assisted extraction identifies relevant data points across 10,000+ documents per report.
Dual-validation approach: bottom-up sizing aggregates segment-level production, consumption, and trade data; top-down sizing cross-validates against macroeconomic indicators and total addressable market estimates. Discrepancies >5% trigger analyst review.
Company profiles built from public financial disclosures, product launches, M&A activity, job postings (as capability proxies), and supply chain mapping. Market share estimates triangulated across revenue, capacity, and shipment data.
CAGR projections use time-series regression on 5-10 years of historical data, adjusted for identified demand drivers (technology adoption curves, regulatory catalysts, demographic shifts) and demand inhibitors (cost barriers, substitution risk). Scenario modeling covers base, optimistic, and conservative cases.
All quantitative outputs reviewed by a domain-specialist analyst before publication. Data triangulation requires minimum 3 independent sources for every key figure. Reports undergo a structured peer review against our 47-point quality checklist covering methodology, data citations, logical consistency, and formatting standards.
On-demand reports are generated at time of purchase, incorporating the most recent available data. Static reports are republished when underlying market conditions shift by >10% from baseline assumptions. Purchasers receive update notifications for 12 months.
