Scope of the Report

The global Multiwall Sack Kraft Paper market size is predicted to grow from US$ 4,488 million in 2025 to US$ 5,904 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.0% from 2026 to 2032.

Multiwall sack kraft paper is a high-strength kraft paper grade used as the main paper substrate for multi-ply industrial sacks. It is typically made from unbleached or bleached kraft pulp and designed for tensile strength, tear resistance, burst resistance, porosity, runnability and converting performance. It is widely used in multiwall sacks for cement, dry mortar, chemicals, minerals, food ingredients, feed, seeds and pet food.

The supply chain starts with softwood kraft pulp, hardwood pulp, unbleached or bleached kraft pulp, wet-strength agents, sizing chemicals, surface-treatment additives, energy, steam and paper-machine systems. Long-fibre pulp quality is critical because it determines tensile strength, tear resistance, burst resistance and sack load-bearing performance. Midstream producers manufacture sack kraft paper through pulp formulation, refining, paper formation, drying, calendering, porosity control, winding, slitting and customer converting validation. Downstream users include multiwall sack converters, valve-sack producers, open-mouth bag producers, cement companies, dry-mix mortar suppliers, chemical producers, food-ingredient processors, feed producers and agricultural packaging customers.

In 2025, global multiwall sack kraft paper production reached approximately 4.5 million tons, with an average global market price is $1,000 per ton.

From a global industry perspective, multiwall sack kraft paper is a core base material in industrial heavy-duty packaging. Its value lies not only in the strength of each paper layer, but also in the ability of multi-ply structures to balance load-bearing capacity, breakage resistance, deaeration, barrier performance, printability and transport protection. Compared with single-layer packaging papers, multiwall sack structures can combine high-strength paper, extensible paper, high-porosity paper, wet-strength paper, coated paper or laminated layers according to product characteristics and filling requirements. This allows them to meet demands for high-speed filling, stacking and transport, dust control, moisture protection and brand identification. As a result, they are widely used in valve sacks, open-mouth sacks, sewn-bottom sacks, block-bottom sacks and heavy-duty industrial paper sacks across building materials, chemicals, agricultural inputs and food ingredients.

In terms of industry trends, multiwall sack kraft paper is moving toward higher strength at lower grammage, fewer plies, higher extensibility, higher porosity, functional lamination, recyclability and reduced-plastic heavy-duty packaging. Traditional multiwall paper sacks often relied on more layers and higher basis weight to ensure load-bearing performance, but improvements in long-fibre pulp optimization, extensible treatment, high-TEA paper, high-porosity grades and sack-structure design are enabling more applications to shift from three or more plies toward two-ply high-performance structures. This helps reduce material consumption, lower transport weight and improve packaging economics. For cement, mortar and chemical powders, high-porosity layers support rapid deaeration during high-speed filling; for moisture-sensitive or cleaner packaging applications, inner coated layers, thin-film laminates or recyclable barrier layers may be used to improve moisture resistance, contamination control and sealing performance. Future competition will shift from single paper-strength metrics toward integrated optimization of ply design, layer matching, sack-converting efficiency, filling performance, drop safety and total packaging cost.

The main growth drivers come from three areas. First, global flows of building materials, chemicals, minerals, agricultural inputs, animal feed and powder or granular industrial products continue to require safe, cost-effective and scalable heavy-duty packaging solutions, supporting long-term demand for multiwall sack kraft paper. Second, industrial users increasingly focus on reducing breakage rates, minimizing dust leakage, improving filling speed and lowering logistics losses, pushing multiwall sacks from more layers toward high-performance paper plus optimized structure. Third, the packaging industry is continuing to shift toward paper-based, recyclable and lower-plastic solutions, creating broader opportunities for multiwall sack kraft paper to replace selected plastic heavy-duty packaging, reduce composite-material use and improve packaging sustainability.
