Scope of the Report
The global N,N-Didecyl-N,N-Dimethylammonium Chloride market size is predicted to grow from US$ 281 million in 2025 to US$ 387 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.7% from 2026 to 2032.
N,N-Didecyl-N,N-Dimethylammonium Chloride is a double long-chain quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactant with a CAS number of 7173-51-5. Its molecular structure contains two decyl hydrophobic chains and one quaternary ammonium cation center, which has strong surface adsorption ability, antibacterial ability, emulsifying and dispersing ability, and formulation compatibility. This product is usually supplied in the form of 50%, 70%, 80% aqueous solution or concentrated solution, and is widely used as a disinfectant, industrial water treatment disinfectant, wood preservative, oilfield chemical, public health cleaning and disinfection, animal husbandry disinfection, textile antibacterial finishing, hard surface cleaner, and compound quaternary ammonium salt disinfection system. In 2025, global N,N-Didecyl-N,N-Dimethylammonium Chloride production reached approximately 68.94 K MT, with an average global market price of around US$ 4,165 per MT.N,N-didecyl-n,n-dimethylammonium chloride has an annual production capacity of 100 thousand tons and a gross profit margin of about 20%.
Upstream raw materials: Double decyl methyl tertiary amine, chloromethane, decanol or decanyl amine related intermediates, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, water, catalyst, hydrochloric acid or pH regulator, etc.
Downstream applications: public health disinfectants, hard surface cleaning disinfectants, industrial circulating water disinfectants, wood preservatives, oilfield water injection disinfectants, papermaking water treatment, animal husbandry disinfection, food processing site cleaning, textile antibacterial finishing, etc.
The cost of raw materials accounts for about 75% to 85%, while energy, utilities, and reaction losses account for about 3% to 5%; Labor, equipment depreciation, and workshop manufacturing expenses account for approximately 4% to 7%; The proportion of testing, environmental protection, safety, and hazardous chemical compliance is about 3% to 6%; Packaging, warehousing, and logistics account for approximately 4% to 8%; Sales, management, and financial expenses account for approximately 3% to 6%.
N,N-Didecyl-N,N-Dimethylammonium Chloride is a highly efficient quaternary ammonium salt fungicide with mature applications and stable performance. It has both cationic surface activity and broad-spectrum antibacterial function. It can achieve bactericidal, bacteriostatic, algicidal, antifungal, and preservative effects by adsorbing on the surface of microbial cells and disrupting the cell membrane structure. Due to its strong hydrophobic and interfacial adsorption capabilities brought by its double long chain structure, didecyldimethylammonium chloride has high application value in hard surface disinfection, industrial circulating water treatment, oilfield water injection sterilization, wood preservation, livestock breeding environment disinfection, and professional cleaning and disinfection products. When combined with benzalkonium chloride, nonionic surfactants, alcohols, chelating agents, corrosion inhibitors, and other quaternary ammonium salts, the antibacterial spectrum, wettability, stability, and cleaning performance of the formula can be further improved.
N,N-Didecyl-N,N-Dimethylammonium Chloride is not only an important disinfectant active ingredient, but also an industrial functional additive, which can serve multiple fields such as public health, food processing, medical environment, transportation facilities, breeding and epidemic prevention, industrial water systems, papermaking water treatment, oilfield produced water, wood protection, and textile antibacterial finishing. With the increasing demands of downstream customers for efficient sterilization, low odor, low color number, low free amine, low temperature stability, regulatory compliance, and compatibility with compounding, products are developing towards high content, stabilization, low impurities, export compliance, and specialized formulations. Enterprises with stable supply of tertiary amine raw materials, control of quaternization reactions, impurity management, production of concentrated products, and development of terminal formulas will have a stronger competitive advantage in this type of product market.
