Scope of the Report

The global Hand Drill market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1,208 million in 2025 to US$ 1,650 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.4% from 2026 to 2032.

Global hand drill sales reached 34.09 million units in 2025, with an average price of $36.23 per ton.

A hand drill is a small, portable drilling tool designed for hand-held operation. It rotates the drill bit manually or electrically to drill holes in materials such as wood, metal, and plastic. Based on the power source, it can be divided into manual hand drills (which rely on hand cranking or pressing to generate rotational force) and electric hand drills (which rely on a motor drive).

The raw material composition of hand drills varies depending on the type. The main raw materials for electric hand drills include: a motor (copper wire, silicon steel sheets, permanent magnets), a gearbox (alloy steel, engineering plastics), a housing (ABS plastic or aluminum alloy), a drill chuck (high carbon steel or alloy steel), a lithium battery (for lithium-ion drills), an electronic control module (PCB, chips), and accessories such as switches and cables. Manual hand drills mainly use tool steel (for gears and drill chucks), wood or plastic (handle), cast iron or aluminum alloy (frame), and standard parts such as springs and bearings.

From a cost structure perspective, the motor and battery account for the largest proportion of the cost of electric hand drills (approximately 30-40% of the total cost), with fluctuations in copper prices significantly impacting costs. This is followed by the gearbox and mechanical transmission components (approximately 15-20%), which require high precision machining. Plastic casings and injection-molded parts account for about 10-15%. The electronic control system (brushless motor drive, speed control module) can account for 15-25% of the cost in mid-to-high-end products. The remainder consists of manual assembly, packaging and transportation, and brand premium. China, with its complete metal processing and electronics industrial chain, has a significant advantage in raw material procurement and manufacturing costs, which is the core reason why China accounts for 65% of global hand tool production.
