概観

Scope of the Report

The global Linear Alkylphenol market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1,255 million in 2025 to US$ 1,654 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.0% from 2026 to 2032.

Linear Alkylphenol (LAP) is an organic intermediate produced by the alkylation of phenol with linear olefins, typically derived from petrochemical feedstocks such as n-paraffins and ethylene. It serves as a key raw material for the production of nonionic surfactants, especially alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEOs) used in detergents, industrial cleaners, emulsifiers, textile processing agents, agrochemical formulations, and oilfield chemicals. In the supply chain, the upstream segment involves crude oil refining and steam cracking to produce benzene, propylene, and linear alpha-olefins, followed by phenol production via the cumene process and linear olefin production from paraffin dehydrogenation. The midstream stage consists of alkylation reactions (commonly using acid catalysts) to synthesize linear alkylphenols such as nonylphenol and octylphenol. The downstream segment includes the ethoxylation of alkylphenols to produce surfactants and specialty chemicals, which are widely used in detergents, coatings, lubricants, plastics additives, pesticides, and industrial cleaning formulations, although regulatory restrictions in some regions (e.g., EU) are gradually reducing their use due to environmental concerns. In 2025, global Linear Alkylphenol output was about 680,000 tons with 1.0 million tons of capacity, average prices of USD 1,700 – 2,800 per ton, and gross margins around 17%.

Global key Linear Alkylphenol players cover BASF (Germany), Dow Chemical (USA), Huntsman (USA), Solvay (Belgium), Sasol (South Africa), etc.
