概観

Scope of the Report

Steelmaking slag is the general term for the product formed by the physical and chemical reaction between the impurities in the metal materials (molten iron and scrap steel, etc.) oxidized by oxidants and the oxides generated by the slag-forming agent and the furnace lining. The density of slag is lower than that of molten steel and it usually covers the surface of molten steel. The main task of steelmaking is to remove harmful impurities (sulfur, phosphorus, gas and inclusions, etc.) in molten steel to the maximum extent, which mainly relies on the refining effect of slag. Therefore, the composition and temperature of slag must be constantly controlled and adjusted during the smelting process.

Global key Steelmaking Slag players cover JFE Steel Corporation, Tata Steel, POSCO, Nippon Steel, ArcelorMittal, etc.
