概観
Scope of the Report
The global Porous Carbon CVD Silicon-Carbon Material Frameworks market size is predicted to grow from US$ 51.68 million in 2025 to US$ 1,238 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 41.1% from 2026 to 2032.
Silicon-carbon anodes offer advantages such as high initial efficiency and low cost; however, their significant expansion force has historically impacted cycle life. Improvements have primarily focused on reducing silicon size to the nanometer scale to minimize the effects of material expansion. Currently, silicon-carbon anode synthesis mainly follows three routes: mechanical ball milling, high-temperature pyrolysis, and chemical vapor deposition (CVD).
Mechanical ball milling involves grinding a suitable silicon and carbon source mixture using a ball mill, followed by sintering. This method grinds silicon to the nanometer scale, achieving a uniform silicon-carbon mixture and mitigating cycle life issues to some extent. Mechanical ball milling significantly improves the electrochemical performance of the material, is simple, and allows for large-scale production. However, the agglomeration of silicon particles during milling leads to poor cycle performance. Silicon-carbon anodes produced by mechanical ball milling are also called silicon-oxygen anodes and are not used as downstream applications for porous carbon in silicon-carbon anodes.
CVD utilizes a porous carbon framework to store silicon, and the internal pores of the porous carbon buffer the volume expansion during lithium intercalation, resulting in low expansion rate, excellent cycle life, and high energy density due to the low density and light weight of the carbon framework itself. CVD silicon-carbon anodes paired with porous carbon substrates effectively improve expansion rate and cycle life issues, demonstrating leading performance and significant development potential, and are poised to become the mainstream next-generation silicon-carbon process.
Porous carbon, as the carbon framework of silicon-carbon anodes, possesses advantages such as high specific surface area, controllable microstructure, abundant pore structure, good conductivity, and high stability. The high specific surface area allows porous carbon to bind more lithium ions, providing high capacity for lithium-ion batteries. The multidimensional and complex pore structure provides effective and rapid diffusion channels for lithium ions, resulting in excellent electrochemical performance. The main raw materials for Porous Carbon CVD Silicon-Carbon Material Frameworks include biomass, resin-based, and coke-based materials. Of the three production routes, biomass raw materials include coconut shells, bamboo, rice husks, sawdust, and starch, which are renewable. Resin raw materials are mainly phenolic resins, with mature production processes, controllable chemical structures, and better uniformity and batch consistency in pore size; however, the raw material cost is higher. Because biomass raw materials are relatively cheaper than resin raw materials, the cost per ton of resin-based porous carbon is significantly higher than that of bio-based porous carbon. Petroleum coke-based carbon falls in between, combining cost and strength.
The core of porous carbon production is the pore-forming process, mainly through steam or alkali activation. This involves mixing an activator with a carbon precursor under high-temperature inert gas protection to initiate a pore-forming reaction. Generally, high temperatures (usually above 800℃) are required to carbonize the carbon precursor first, and then steam or alkali is used as an activator to react with the carbon precursor to achieve the pore-forming reaction.
In 2025, the global production of Porous Carbon CVD Silicon-Carbon Material Frameworks was approximately 1637 tons, with a unit price of approximately US$32,270/ton and a gross profit margin of approximately 24.57%.
The major global producers of silicon-carbon porous carbon include Kuraray, Shengquan Group, Fujian Yuanli, Henan Dachao Carbon Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Sinosteel Maanshan General Institute of Mining Research, Aemcn, KBC Corporation, Ltd., Shanghai Tanyuan New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Apex, Fujian Xinsen Carbon Co., Ltd., Bengbu Gifuli New Materials, Shenzhen Solide New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangsu PURESTAR Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., etc.
In 2025, the first-tier manufacturers (Shengquan Group, Fujian Yuanli, Henan Dachao Carbon Energy Technology Co., Ltd., SinoSteel Maanshan, Aemcn, Shenzhen Solide) account for approximately 92.15% of total sales volume. With capacity expansion and new entrants entering the market, competition in the industry is expected to intensify in the coming years.
Market Characteristics
Explosive Market Growth: Rapid development of the new energy industry and growing demand for high-energy-density batteries are driving the rapid expansion of the global silicon-carbon porous carbon market. In 2025, China accounted for approximately 95% of global production, and this high growth is expected to continue over the next three to five years.
Significant Technology Differences: The three major production routes—biomass, resin-based, and coal-based (coke)—coexist. The resin-based route offers high specific surface area, stable performance, and uniform quality; the coal-based route has clear cost advantages and strong scale-up potential; the biomass route is flexible, low-cost, and responsive. In the future, coal-based and high-pore-volume routes are expected to see the fastest growth.
Clear Competitive Landscape: The market is dominated by multiple medium-to-large enterprises, with moderate concentration and intense competition. Domestic leading companies have established technological barriers through in-house R&D and joint development, but the market is not monopolized by a few firms, and capacity differences among companies are limited.
Differentiated Application Scenarios: Power batteries remain the core application, accounting for over 97% of usage. While consumer electronics and other applications currently represent a smaller share, they exhibit significant growth (CAGR 40–50%), with potential in high-end and wearable device markets.
