개요
Scope of the Report
The global SmFeN Bonded Magnets market size is predicted to grow from US$ 54.00 million in 2025 to US$ 82.33 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.4% from 2026 to 2032.
In 2025, global SmFeN Bonded Magnets production reached approximately 690 tons, with an average global market price of around US$80 per kilogram. SmFeN magnet, also known as Samarium Iron Nitride magnets, are a type of rare-earth permanent magnet known for their strong magnetic properties. They are part of the rare-earth magnet family, which includes neodymium magnets as well. SmFeN compound is a thermodynamically metastable structure and begins to decompose above 600°C. Therefore, the traditional sintering process cannot be used to manufacture magnets, but this alloy powder can be used to make bonded magnets.
SmFeN bonded magnets have gained industry attention because they offer plastic-molding compatibility, improved high-temperature stability and superior corrosion resistance compared with some conventional bonded rare-earth grades. Development is led by powder and compound producers who focus on low-oxidation powder synthesis, particle coating and resin-compatible masterbatches to enable PPS/PA injection molded parts for automotive motors and harsh-environment sensors; at the same time smaller magnet manufacturers are optimizing molding and formulation to reduce system cost. The main growth drivers are supply-chain diversification away from Nd dependence and the process advantages for complex, high-reliability components. Key barriers remain: SmFeN must continue to close the performance gap against mainstream NdFeB in energy product and long-term stability, and the technology requires higher production yield, proven coating/encapsulation reliability, and capital and certification investment before large-scale substitution can occur.
