개요

Scope of the Report

The global Niobium Nitride market size is predicted to grow from US$ 267 million in 2025 to US$ 501 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.4% from 2026 to 2032.

Niobium Nitride (NbN) is a refractory transition metal nitride known for its high hardness, excellent thermal stability, strong corrosion resistance, and notable superconducting properties (with a critical temperature around 16 K), making it widely used in superconducting devices, hard coatings, and advanced electronics. The supply chain begins upstream with niobium sources such as pyrochlore and columbite ores, primarily mined in countries like Brazil and Canada, and nitrogen gas (or ammonia) derived from industrial air separation. In the midstream, niobium metal or niobium pentoxide (Nb₂O₅) is processed into NbN through nitridation methods such as direct reaction with nitrogen/ammonia at high temperatures, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), or physical vapor deposition (PVD) for thin films. Downstream, NbN materials are fabricated into coatings, thin films, powders, or superconducting components used in applications such as superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs), Josephson junctions, cutting tools, diffusion barriers in semiconductors, and wear-resistant coatings in aerospace and industrial equipment. In 2025, global Niobium Nitride output was about 9,000 tons with 13,000 tons of capacity, average prices of USD 25,000–70,000 per ton, and gross margins around 37%.

Global key Niobium Nitride players cover American Elements (USA), Kurt J. Lesker (USA), SCI Engineered Materials (USA), Materion (USA), EVOCHEM (Germany), etc.
