Galbanum Essential Oil is steam distilled from the resin of a flowering plant that is indigenous to Iran (Persia). Galbanum resin has been widely used as incense and in perfumery since ancient times.
The raw material for galbanum oil is the golden-green resin that oozes from the stems of *Ferula galbaniflua* after being cut or naturally damaged. The main production areas are Iran, northern Afghanistan, and Turkey. Harvesting relies on wild tapping. The resin contains 60-80% volatile terpenes. The raw material purchase price fluctuates with production volume and accounts for approximately 55-60% of the ex-factory cost. The factory steam distills the resin for 6-8 hours, yielding an oil yield of 15-20%. Subsequent processes include oil-water separation, crude oil refining, filtration, and bottling. Energy, labor, and testing account for 25-30% of the total cost. Therefore, for every 10% increase in resin price, the cost of the essential oil rises by 5-6%.
