Scope of the Report
The global Robot Battery market size is predicted to grow from US$ 431 million in 2025 to US$ 815 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.7% from 2026 to 2032.
Robot Battery are rechargeable energy-storage products installed within robots capable of autonomous movement, environmental perception, task execution, decision-making, human–machine interaction, or other automated operations. They provide the principal electrical power required by mobile platforms, joint actuators, control units, onboard computing systems, sensors, communication modules, and other auxiliary loads. These products are generally built from cylindrical, pouch, or prismatic lithium-ion cells and are supplied as battery modules, complete battery packs, or integrated battery systems. Depending on the required balance between energy density, output power, cycle life, safety, cost, and operating environment, they may use lithium iron phosphate, nickel-rich ternary, manganese-based, or other lithium-ion chemistries. A complete robot battery system typically incorporates a battery management system, electrical protection, mechanical enclosure, connectors, communication interfaces, state monitoring, cell balancing, and, where necessary, thermal-management components. Product configurations may include permanently installed batteries, removable packs, quick-release packs, hot-swappable batteries, dual-battery architectures, and batteries designed for autonomous swapping or opportunity charging. Major applications include automated guided vehicles, autonomous mobile robots, warehouse and logistics robots, delivery robots, professional cleaning robots, humanoid robots, quadruped robots, inspection and security robots, medical mobile robots, agricultural robots, and consumer service robots.
According to the International Federation of Robotics, global sales of professional service robots approached 200,000 units in 2024, of which transportation and logistics robots accounted for 102,900 units. Sales of consumer service robots reached approximately 20.1 million units, with the vast majority used for domestic applications. Although consumer robot batteries generally have lower capacity and lower unit value, they benefit from an annual shipment base measured in the tens of millions of units. AGV and AMR batteries have substantially lower shipment volumes, but their larger capacities and more demanding requirements for battery management systems, communication, structural protection, cycle life, and rapid charging result in a significantly higher value per battery system. The humanoid robot battery market remains relatively small at present, but its requirements for high power output, lightweight design, rapid battery replacement, and enhanced safety make it an important source of future product mix upgrading.
From a product-technology perspective, lightweight service robots and humanoid robots place greater emphasis on volumetric energy density, battery weight, peak power output, and quick-swap capability. High-capacity 2170 cells, 46-series cylindrical cells, and other advanced cylindrical formats are therefore relatively well suited to these applications. Consumer products such as robotic vacuum cleaners continue to prioritize cost, product stability, and mature supply chains. AGVs and AMRs, by contrast, place greater emphasis on the cycle life and safety of lithium iron phosphate batteries, opportunity charging, and total cost of ownership over the full operating life. Samsung SDI has stated that robot-specific batteries must address constraints relating to limited installation space, energy density, power output, and operating duration. LG Energy Solution identifies high energy density, high power, lightweight design, long service life, and safety as the key performance requirements for robot batteries, while also exploring the application of solid-state batteries in humanoid robots. At the same time, battery management systems are evolving from basic protection functions toward SOC and SOH estimation, fault warning, data communication, thermal-propagation protection, and predictive maintenance. For industrial mobile robots, safety frameworks such as ISO 3691-4 and UL 3100 have incorporated driverless industrial trucks, automated mobile platforms, their batteries, and battery management systems into system-level safety assessment. Battery suppliers will therefore increasingly be required to satisfy cell-level safety, pack-level safety, functional safety, and integrated robot-system requirements.
Since 2025, Samsung SDI, LG Energy Solution, Saft, EVE Energy, and CATL, among other companies, have announced robot-specific battery products, customer collaborations, or new application projects. These developments indicate that the industry is moving from the adaptation of general-purpose batteries toward purpose-developed battery solutions. Nevertheless, slower-than-expected robot commercialization, the absence of standardized platform interfaces, in-house battery integration by robot OEMs, continued declines in cell prices, and lower-than-expected humanoid robot production could continue to constrain market revenue growth.
