개요

Scope of the Report

The global CO₂ Storage by Mineral Carbonation market size is predicted to grow from US$ 435 million in 2025 to US$ 836 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.9% from 2026 to 2032.

CO₂ Storage by Mineral Carbonation is a carbon management method in which captured carbon dioxide reacts with calcium- or magnesium-rich minerals, alkaline industrial residues, concrete waste, brines or reactive rock formations to form stable solid carbonate minerals, such as calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate. The process can be conducted ex situ in reactors, mineral-processing facilities and building-material production lines, or in situ by injecting CO₂ into basalt, peridotite and other suitable geological formations. Because the carbon is chemically bound in a low-energy mineral form rather than stored only as compressed gas, mineral carbonation can provide highly durable storage with a comparatively low risk of long-term leakage.

The CO₂ Storage by Mineral Carbonation market is an emerging segment of the carbon capture, utilization and storage industry, encompassing mineralization technologies, reaction equipment, project engineering, permanent carbon-storage services and mineralized materials. Market demand is being supported by decarbonization requirements in cement, concrete, steel, mining, waste management and other hard-to-abate industries, as well as growing demand for durable carbon removal. Commercial development is increasingly focused on integrating CO₂ capture with mineralization, using steel slag, mine tailings, demolition concrete and other alkaline wastes as feedstocks, and producing aggregates, cementitious materials and carbonate chemicals alongside permanent storage. However, slow reaction kinetics for some minerals, feedstock pretreatment and transportation requirements, energy and water consumption, project capital costs, product certification and carbon-accounting requirements remain important barriers to large-scale deployment.

This report presents a comprehensive overview of the global CO₂ Storage by Mineral Carbonation market, covering market size and forecast, segmentation by product type and application, competitive landscape, leading players and regional and country-level outlook.
