개요

Scope of the Report

The global Self-emulsifying Silicone Defoamer market size is predicted to grow from US$ 148 million in 2025 to US$ 207 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.9% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global sales volume of Self-emulsifying Silicone Defoamer was approximately 24,000 tons, with an average ex-factory selling price of around USD 6.0/kg. The gross margin of major manufacturers was approximately 30%–40%.

Self-emulsifying Silicone Defoamer is a concentrated silicone-based defoaming agent formulated primarily with polydimethylsiloxane, polyether-modified polysiloxane, or other modified silicone compounds as the main defoaming active ingredients. Through hydrophilic molecular modification or the incorporation of emulsifying components, the product can spontaneously emulsify and rapidly disperse when introduced into water or aqueous systems. Its key advantage is that it combines the low surface tension, rapid foam knockdown, and sustained foam-control performance of silicone-based defoamers with improved dispersibility of conventional high-active silicone fluids in aqueous media, eliminating the need for users to add separate emulsifiers or carry out dedicated pre-emulsification.

Upstream materials mainly include dimethyl silicone fluid, polyether-modified silicone fluid and other modified polysiloxanes, hydrophobic silica, polyethers, emulsifiers, and other functional additives. The molecular structure, viscosity, and degree of hydrophilic modification of the silicone base materials directly affect self-emulsification speed, dispersion stability, and long-term defoaming performance. Downstream applications mainly include textile dyeing and finishing, coatings and inks, water treatment, pulp and paper, detergents and industrial cleaning, chemical processing, metalworking fluids, and agrochemicals. In practical use, the product is typically added directly to the foaming system or diluted with water prior to use. Its final performance depends not only on the formulation of the defoamer itself, but also on operating conditions such as system temperature, pH, shear intensity, surfactant composition, and dosage.
