Scope of the Report
The global Electric Cooling Fan for Commercial Vehicle market size is predicted to grow from US$ 77.54 million in 2025 to US$ 265 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 19.4% from 2026 to 2032.
An electric cooling fan for commercial vehicles is a forced-airflow device installed on LCVs, medium/heavy trucks, buses and coaches to deliver controlled airflow across heat exchangers—radiator, A/C condenser, charge-air cooler—and, for BEV/FCEV commercial vehicles, thermal loops for e-drive and battery systems.
Key upstream elements include the motor (copper windings, magnets, bearings), power/control electronics (PCB, MOSFETs/drivers, sensors), aerodynamic/structural parts (impeller and shroud), and harness/connectors. Midstream Tier-1/module suppliers integrate the motor, controller and fan system, perform calibration and validation, and co-design with the vehicle thermal architecture (e.g., brushless fan systems for powertrain/battery cooling).
In 2025, global electric vehicle cooling fan production reached approximately 1.5 million sets, with an average global market price of around US$50 per set.
An electric cooling fan for commercial vehicles is a high-duty fan module driven by an electric motor (increasingly brushless DC) that provides forced airflow for radiators, charge-air coolers, EGR coolers, transmission and oil coolers, aftertreatment systems, and—on hybrid/EV platforms—e-drive and battery heat exchangers in trucks, buses and other heavy vehicles. Unlike older belt-driven or viscous mechanical fans directly coupled to the engine, electric fans decouple airflow from engine speed: the fan is mounted in a shroud or frame near the heat exchanger stack, and its speed is commanded by the engine/thermal control unit based on coolant temperature, intake air temperature, exhaust/aftertreatment temperature, A/C demand and, for new energy commercial vehicles, inverter and battery temperature. This improves cooling accuracy in low-speed, high-load conditions (city buses, refuse trucks, construction vehicles) and reduces over-cooling and parasitic losses at cruise.
Technically, commercial-vehicle electric cooling fans must handle higher continuous loads, longer operating hours and harsher environments than passenger-car fans. Modules typically use robust brushless motors, reinforced hubs and blades, corrosion-resistant materials and heavy-duty bearings, combined with PWM or CAN/LIN control electronics integrated into the fan hub. The design balances high airflow and static pressure (to push air through thick multi-row cores and stacked coolers) with noise, efficiency and reliability targets on 24 V or high-voltage architectures. In ICE trucks and buses, these fans are gradually replacing mechanical/viscous fans as OEMs chase fuel economy, emissions and noise reductions; in hybrid and electric commercial vehicles, they are part of multi-loop thermal systems that must protect batteries and power electronics under steep grades, high ambient temperatures and repeated fast-charge events.
From an industry perspective, electric cooling fans for commercial vehicles are moving from generic commodity parts to system-engineered components: OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers co-optimise fan aerodynamics, motor and inverter design, controls and mounting with the entire thermal package, and suppliers that can offer high-efficiency brushless fans, low-noise performance and strong validation for severe duty cycles are gaining a competitive edge in the truck and bus value chain.
