개요

Scope of the Report

The global Germanium market size is predicted to grow from US$ 353 million in 2025 to US$ 483 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.6% from 2026 to 2032.

Germanium (Ge), a chemical element between silicon and tin in Group 14 (IVa) of the periodic table, a silvery-gray metalloid, intermediate in properties between the metals and the nonmetals. Germanium did not become economically significant until after 1945, when its properties as a semiconductor were recognized as being of value in electronics. Many other substances now also are used as semiconductors, but germanium remains of primary importance in the manufacture of transistors and of components for devices such as rectifiers and photocells. Pure germanium is a hard, lustrous, gray-white, brittle metalloid. It has a diamond like crystalline structure and it is similar in chemical and physical properties to silicon. Germanium is stable in air and water, and is unaffected by alkalis and acids, except nitric acid.

Global key players of germanium include Yunnan Germanium, Yunnan Chihong Zn & Ge, Umicore, Teck, Shenzhen Zhongjin Lingnan, etc. The top five players hold a share about 77%. China is the largest market, has a share about 44%. In terms of product type, Germanium Ingot is the largest segment, with a share of 45%. And in terms of application, IR Optics has a share of 28%.

This report presents a comprehensive overview of the global Germanium market, covering market size and forecast, segmentation by product type and application, competitive landscape, leading players and regional and country-level outlook.
