개요

Scope of the Report

The global Octaethylene Glycol market size is predicted to grow from US$ 199 million in 2025 to US$ 299 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.0% from 2026 to 2032.

Octaethylene Glycol is a high-molecular-weight polyethylene glycol oligomer with the chemical structure HO–(CH₂CH₂O)₈–H, consisting of eight ethylene oxide (EO) repeating units. It is a colorless, hygroscopic, water-soluble liquid or low-melting solid widely used as a pharmaceutical intermediate, surfactant component, polymer modifier, specialty solvent, bioconjugation linker, and raw material for advanced materials and life science applications. The supply chain begins upstream with petrochemical feedstocks such as ethylene, produced from steam cracking of naphtha or ethane, which is oxidized to form ethylene oxide. Through controlled ethoxylation and oligomerization processes, ethylene oxide is converted into polyethylene glycol oligomers, followed by fractionation, purification, and molecular-weight separation to obtain octaethylene glycol with high purity. Midstream manufacturers specialize in glycol ethers, polyethylene glycols (PEGs), and specialty ethoxylates, supplying pharmaceutical, biotechnology, personal care, coatings, electronics, and chemical industries. Downstream applications include drug delivery systems, cosmetic formulations, nonionic surfactants, analytical reagents, biomedical research, nanoparticle surface modification, specialty lubricants, and advanced functional materials where excellent hydrophilicity, biocompatibility, and solvent compatibility are required. In 2025, global Octaethylene Glycol output was about 60,000 tons with 70,000 tons of capacity, average prices of USD 3,000–8,000 per ton, and gross margins around 29%.

Global key Octaethylene Glycol players cover NOF Corporation (Japan), Sanyo Chemical (Japan), JenKem Technology (USA), Creative PEGWorks (USA), Laysan Bio (USA), etc.
