The molecular formula of coking phenol, C6H5OH, also known as carbolic acid, is a colorless needle like crystal with a special odor, toxic, slightly soluble in water at room temperature, and easily soluble in organic solvents; When the temperature is above 65 ℃, it can dissolve with water in any proportion, and phenol is corrosive. Phenol is oxidized to quinone and turns pink when exposed to air. Under normal pressure, the boiling point is 181.7 ℃ and the melting point is 40.5 ℃. Mainly used in the production of phenolic resins, caprolactam, bisphenol A, adipic acid, etc., it has wide applications in synthetic fibers, synthetic resins, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, plastics, dyes, and spices.
