Scope of the Report

The global Mimosa Oil market size is predicted to grow from US$ 716 million in 2025 to US$ 1,013 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.2% from 2026 to 2032.

Global sales of mimosa oil reached 4.8 K tons in 2025, with an average price of US$152,331 per ton.

Mimosa oil, also known as mimosa absolute or silver acacia flower oil, is a deep yellow to orange-yellow viscous liquid extracted from the flowers and young branches of the silver acacia (Acacia dealbata Link., also known as silver acacia or blue acacia) through solvent extraction (not steam distillation). Strictly speaking, it should be called "absolute" rather than "essential oil" because it is extracted using organic solvents (such as hexane and ethanol) rather than distillation. This oil has a warm, sweet, powdery floral scent with honey and woody undertones, and subtle green violet notes.

The supply of raw materials for mimosa oil is extremely scarce, labor-intensive, and highly geographically concentrated. Approximately 90% of global production comes from Grasse, France, and Morocco. These Mediterranean climate zones (mild winters and good drainage) are ideal for the growth of *Vitex negundo* and for the abundant accumulation of aromatic substances in its flowers. Raw material costs account for 60-70% of the total cost. Due to the extremely low extraction rate (only 0.02%-0.07%), approximately 500-1000 kg of fresh flowers are needed to extract 1 kg of absolute, making its raw material consumption one of the highest among all floral absolutes. Furthermore, *Vitex negundo* is a wild or semi-wild shrub, and its flowers must be hand-harvested from winter to early spring (only about 60 kg can be harvested per hour), with a short flowering period (3-4 months). Labor costs account for as much as 25-30%. Processing costs account for approximately 15-20%. While solvent extraction is a mature process, it requires multiple extractions, freeze-drying, and vacuum concentration, resulting in high equipment investment and energy consumption. Notably, because the absolute is solid or extremely viscous at room temperature, it needs to be diluted with ethanol (typically 30%-70%) before use, further increasing processing costs. Quality control and testing costs account for 5-10%, requiring GC-MS to ensure the proportions of key components such as anisaldehyde and ionone, and to detect solvent residues. Overall, mimosa oil is a luxury-grade fragrance with extremely high prices, extreme scarcity, and a fragile supply chain. Its cost structure is significantly affected by the sustainability of wild resources, the availability of manual labor, and climatic conditions (frost can destroy an entire harvest, such as the Grasse frost in 1956 which resulted in two years of no supply).
