Scope of the Report
Expanded perlite products refer to heat-insulating refractory products made of perlite as the main component. It is a thermal insulation product made of expanded perlite as aggregate and appropriate amount of cement, such as cement, water glass, phosphate, etc., after stirring, mixing, molding, drying, roasting or curing. The density of expanded perlite is small, generally only 40-120kg/m3, and the refractoriness is not high, generally 1280-1360°C. The maximum service temperature of products with different binders is different, usually below 1000°C. Expanded perlite products are divided into cement-bonded expanded perlite products, water glass-bonded expanded perlite products, phosphate-bonded expanded perlite products and asphalt-bonded expanded perlite products according to the type of cement used.
Expanded perlite is a non-metallic mineral material. Its many advantages determine its wide application. For example, it is involved in the three major fields of construction, industry, and agriculture. Then the main uses and fields are listed below. :
① Insulation and sound insulation materials
It is suitable for sound insulation and thermal insulation of buildings and industrial products to reduce weight, and can also be used as thermal insulation filling material in cryogenic and low-temperature thermal equipment for oxygen production;
② Filter aid
Used as one of the materials for making filter cakes, it can filter beverages, alcoholic beverages, or pharmaceutical and oil products, etc.
③ Filling material and expansion agent
In the production of industrial products, it is often necessary to add some expansion agents, and perlite is an auxiliary material.
④ Adsorption
Expanded perlite is porous and has adsorption, for example, it can be used to make hand washing powder and hand sanitizer.
⑤ Soil conditioner
In agricultural planting, it is used to improve soil and increase moisture retention capacity. It is used in soilless cultivation and horticultural seedling raising. It has the effects of air permeability, light weight, cleaning, heat preservation, acid and alkali resistance, fertilizer retention, and water retention.
⑥ Refractory material
It can be mixed with other materials and processed into refractory bricks or insulation bricks and refractory products, etc.
All in all, the application fields of expanded perlite cover a wide range. This material not only has certain environmental protection, but also has certain economic and social value, so it is a rare inorganic material.
