Scope of the Report
The global Automotive PTC Resettable Fuse market size is predicted to grow from US$ 98 million in 2025 to US$ 147 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.0% from 2026 to 2032.
Automotive PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) resettable fuses are self-resetting circuit protection devices for automotive electrical systems. Unlike conventional single-use fuses, PTC resettable fuses automatically increase their own resistance in the event of a fault condition, such as an overcurrent or short circuit, to limit the current and protect the circuit. When the fault condition is eliminated, the PTC fuse will return to its low resistance state through the cooling process, achieving automatic reset without replacement, reducing maintenance costs and improving system reliability. In recent years, with the increasing degree of automotive electronics, the rapid development of new energy vehicles and intelligent networked vehicles, the demand for automotive PTC resettable fuses has grown significantly. The key raw materials for automotive PTC resettable fuses mainly include polymers such as polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP) and other thermoplastic polymers, carbon black, silver paste, copper powder and other conductive fillers and ceramic packaging materials. The downstream customers of automotive PTC resettable fuses mainly include OEMs such as Toyota, Volkswagen, and Tesla, as well as suppliers of electronic components and circuit protection solutions provided by OEMs, such as Bosch, Delphi, and Continental. In addition, aftermarket and electric vehicle EV battery management system (BMS) suppliers also need to purchase PTC fuses. In 2025, production was approximately 200 million units and the average price was USD 0.5 per unit. The industry’s capacity utilization rate in 2025 was about 70% and the average gross margin was around 30%.
With the rapid development of automotive electrification and intelligence, the number of electronic components and circuits inside vehicles is increasing exponentially, posing higher and more complex requirements for circuit protection. The PTC resettable fuse, with its unique self-recovering property, has become an ideal alternative to traditional one-time fuses. When a circuit overcurrent or overheat occurs, the resistance of the PTC fuse increases rapidly, cutting off the current; once the fault is cleared, it automatically returns to a low-resistance state, eliminating the need for manual replacement. This resettable function greatly simplifies fault handling, reduces maintenance costs, and enhances vehicle reliability.
