Scope of the Report

The global Perovskite PVD Coating Equipment market size is predicted to grow from US$ 171 million in 2025 to US$ 984 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 28.5% from 2026 to 2032.

Perovskite PVD Coating Equipment refers to specialized thin-film manufacturing systems that use thermal evaporation, electron-beam evaporation, magnetron sputtering, ion plating or other physical vapor deposition processes under vacuum. These systems convert solid or liquid source materials into vapor-phase species through evaporation, sublimation or sputtering and deposit them onto glass, flexible substrates or crystalline-silicon bottom cells to form perovskite absorbers, transparent conductive layers, charge-transport layers, interfacial modification layers and metallic electrodes.

A complete system generally includes vacuum chambers, evaporation sources or sputtering cathodes, vacuum pumps, film-thickness and deposition-rate monitoring, substrate handling and temperature control, process-gas control and automated control systems. Multi-source co-evaporation and sequential evaporation are the principal vacuum-based dry processes for depositing perovskite absorbers, while magnetron sputtering is mainly used for ITO, AZO, NiOx, CuOx, metallic electrodes and other functional films. The market scope includes complete evaporation PVD systems, magnetron-sputtering PVD systems and independently accepted multi-process PVD platforms, while excluding CVD, PECVD, ALD, RPD, solution-coating equipment and separately sold pumps, targets, evaporation sources or power supplies.

In 2025, the global shipment volume of Perovskite PVD Coating Equipment is approximately 175 units, with a price of approximately US$1 million per unit and a gross profit margin of approximately 30% to 42%.

As perovskite technology moves from small-area devices toward large modules and tandem cells, functional films must be deposited without damaging the perovskite absorber or organic interlayers. Magnetron sputtering can deposit ITO, AZO, NiOx, CuOx and metallic electrodes and offers broad material compatibility, relatively high deposition rates, dense films and strong suitability for continuous manufacturing. As hundred-megawatt single-junction lines, gigawatt-scale module projects and perovskite-silicon tandem pilot lines expand, demand is shifting from single-chamber research tools toward multi-chamber cluster, vertical continuous and large-format inline systems.

The primary industrial challenge is that energetic ions, reflected argon atoms and ultraviolet radiation generated during conventional sputtering may damage perovskite absorbers and organic transport layers, increasing interfacial defects and reducing open-circuit voltage and long-term stability. Device architectures, target materials and film stacks have not yet been fully standardized, requiring equipment suppliers to address low-temperature deposition, low plasma damage, thickness uniformity, target utilization, particle control and continuous operating reliability simultaneously. Price volatility in indium and silver, together with competition from RPD, ALD and evaporation technologies, may also change the installation share of individual PVD processes.

Future competition will increasingly center on coating processes and complete-line integration rather than vacuum-chamber fabrication alone. Production equipment is expected to use rotary cathodes, facing-target or four-facing-target low-damage sputtering, vertical or double-sided transport, inline thickness inspection, target-life monitoring and MES-based traceability. Demand for low-temperature transparent top electrodes and composite transparent electrodes in perovskite-silicon tandem cells will be a major medium- and long-term growth driver. Flexible and space-photovoltaic applications will also stimulate demand for roll-to-roll PVD and lightweight semitransparent electrode equipment. Suppliers combining experience in HJT, thin-film photovoltaics or display-panel PVD with validated perovskite processes are expected to secure stronger order positions and higher margins.
