Online Consumer Buying Trend on Black Friday

The day after Thanksgiving Day; there comes a day which many started to refer to as Black Friday. Black Friday as it got its referral by the police and the retail industry when the innumerable size of customers that flocked to the stores and retail chains causing traffic, unsettling experience for pedestrians or motorists or anyone traveling within the city limits. The shops on the other hand had an attractive set of offers and variety and different kinds of new arrivals to wide range of products at a discounted or reduced prices. It has been in the trend since five decades at least, and this year too will mark one of the biggest and brightest shopping experience and in business retail circle, an extravagant retail stampede. This year's one of the most awaited days for shopping is here for the Americans when they flock to the stores that put up attractive pieces of lists at an attractive discounts and sales.

Every year since the 1950s the culture and trend has grown massively and aggressively. The maximum beneficiaries here are the retailers that utilize this time to make the most of the shopping hungry and shopping starved customers, where retailers strategically use the online, mobile and location based stores to make sure that the customers are spending and getting the worth of their money. The nonstop onslaught of deals and great buys are in demand so much so that over 247 million shopped in 2012 alone, and the numbers didn't come directly from the number present in location based stores but the online and mobile users as well. In the latest instance, the number of online and mobile shoppers has been growing at a rapid pace. With more and more apps being developed to make the shopping experience of either browsing through or the actual buy, there is convenience involved and interactive assistance for every query and clarification.

From choosing to have multiple options in various apps that are supported on smart phones and tablets that people are utilizing this virtual space to its highest potential. To give a statistical idea, 41% of all the consumer’s total spending for the weekend was online, where on average a person spent approximately $173 over the weekend, and the average spending during the shopping season in 2012 was $423/ person, which in 2011 was $398.

The age group is the biggest factor in understanding how the trend is picking up in such rapid number. When this shopping spree starts and last for an entire in November, the numbers of shoppers keep rising as the year passes, for example- in 2012, more than 89 million people shopped online compared to 86 million in 2011.

So, when the numbers keep getting bigger and wider, the responsibility for active measures of providing safety, necessary precautions, and items in stock, people management and proper facilities are all the aspects of positive and well functioning market and business. When the number such as $59.1 billion spent during the weekend, which is up from $52.4 billion recorded in 2011, give an idea of what kind of growth there could be in 2013, especially with online medium having incorporated many changes with safety in transactions, multiple options, latest arrivals, precise and proper home deliveries, and many other advantageous factors that allow the consumer to look forward to make the most of the shopping experience. Now, when you think of consumers, there come three groups of different age and groups that either come with the agenda of strict shopping or one of the activities during the evening.

The first one are individual women who look forward to having the best deals and who venture out alone on Thursday or Friday night and derive great value of money spent, the next are the pack of family that strategically bring along the whole family to shop as much as in one night and utilize discounts and sales as the best times for their shopping, and the last one is the small pack of young females that don't really have an agenda of shopping but sort of an experience to have in mind. Whatever is the case, the November month, and then this Thanksgiving weekend serves all well.
