Animal feed enzymes market eyeing to cross USD 2 billion revenue by 2028
Feed costs represent the biggest input cost for feed manufacturers, somewhere accounting for 70% of total production cost. Around 25% of nutrients are lost due to anti-nutritional factors in feed. Then what is the solution? The answer lies in Enzymes. Animal nutrition companies have utilized enzymes in many processes to transform ingredients into some of the top food and feed products.
According to our latest findings, the Global Animal Feed Enzymes market size is estimated to be worth USD 1482.9 million in 2021. It is forecast to a readjusted size of USD 2356.2 million by 2028 with a CAGR of 7.1% during the forecast period 2022-2028.
Novozymes, IFF, and Aum Enzymes are the animal feed enzymes industry leaders. The top 5 take about 54% market share. The Asia Pacific is the primary region of the global market, which takes about 35% market share. In terms of product, phytases are the largest segment, with a share of over 54%. And in terms of application, the most prominent application is poultry feed, followed by ruminant feed.

1 . List of Important Animal Feed Enzymes Categories

1. Phytases

Phytase is one of several essential enzymes required for the digestive process and a key enzyme for bone health. During the digestion of food/food, phytase breaks down into a phytic acid chemical. Phytase accelerates the absorption of minerals like calcium, iron, and zinc. Phytase is produced by bacteria found in the gut of ruminant animals such as cattle and sheep, making it possible for them to use the phytic acid present in grains as a source of phosphorus. If phosphorus is used more efficiently in the diet of farm animals, then less is excreted. It minimizes the impact of livestock production on the environment. Monogastric farm animals (poultry, pigs, horses) lack phytase to release phytic-phosphorus. Incorporating additional phytase into the diet increases the breakdown of phytate and the consequent utilization of plant phosphorus.
Global Phytases Market is further divided into Granular Phytases, Powder Phytases, Liquid Phytases and Thermostable Phytases
Popular Products:

  1. DSM's RONOZYME® HiPhos is a powerful and active phytase, delivering exceptional and consistent improvement on phosphorus availability.
  2. ADM's Empirical® Phytase is a bacterial-origin 6-phytase for inclusion in swine and poultry feeds. The product enables swine and poultry to utilize phytate-bound phosphorus present in plant-based ingredients better.
  3. AB Enzymes GmbH's FINASE® EC is an E.coli-derived Phytase for use in pig and poultry feeds that can be used to degrade phytate, releasing phosphorus (P) in the diet that would otherwise be unavailable to the animal.
  4. AB Enzymes GmbH's QUANTUM® Blue is an enhanced E.coli-derived phytase specifically designed to unlock maximum value from phytate, which can be flexibly applied to either improve animal performance or reduce feed costs.

2. Carbohydrases

Carbohydrases break down carbohydrates in several regions of the digestive system. Digestion by carbohydrase enzymes breaks down very large starch molecules into small glucose molecules. Carbohydrases help to degrade anti-nutritional factors, such as non-starch polysaccharides (NSP). The primary types of carbohydrases used in animal nutrition include xylanase, which breaks down arabinoxylans; beta-glucanase, which breaks down glucans; and cellulase, which breaks down cellulose.
Global Carbohydrases Market is further divided into Cellulases, Amylases, Mannanases, Pectinases, and Lactase.
Popular Products:

  1. RONOZYME® WX (DSM): DSM leading versatile Xylanase, recognized across the industry as an outstanding mono-component Xylanase product, due to its excellent performance in all monogastric species.
  2. RONOZYME® VP (DSM): A unique multicomponent enzyme that dismantle the complex carbohydrates found in soya, canola and other dicot feed ingredients and their by-products.
  3. RONOZYME® MultiGrain (DSM): A unique combination of xylanase, β- glucanase, cellulase and xyloglucanase enzymes that dismantle the complex carbohydrates found in corn, barley and other cereal grains feed ingredients and their by-products.

3. Proteases

Proteolytic enzymes (proteases) are enzymes that break down protein. Proteases increase the digestibility of proteins and amino acids. Protease enzymes are also capable of breaking apart proteins that bind starch within feed ingredients, thus making more of the energy found in starch available to the animal. Proteases are present in bacteria, archaea, certain types of algae, some viruses, and plants; they are most abundant, however, in animals.
Global Protease Market size was USD 644.4 million and it is expected to reach USD 892.2 million by the end of 2027, with a CAGR of 4.8% during 2021-2027.
Popular Products:
  1. Axtra® PRO (IFF and DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences) contains a single-activity protease that helps to unlock the full benefits of dietary protein by boosting its digestibility and increasing the availability of amino acids - even when quality protein is used in feed formulations.
  2. RONOZYME® ProAct (DSM) significantly increases the digestibility of protein. It complements naturally occurring proteases in feed and considerably increases amino acid and peptide supply so as to enhance animal performance.
  3. AB Enzymes GmbH portfolio (COROLASE® 7089, COROLASE® 8000, COROLASE® 2TS) allows you to choose between different sorts of protein modifications and preferred processing conditions.
Other popular categories are: Xylanase, Glucanase, Amylase, and Lipase
