Scope of the Report

The global Fluorine-Based Grease for Machinery Industry market size is predicted to grow from US$ 90.34 million in 2025 to US$ 129 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.1% from 2026 to 2032.

Global sales of fluorine-based grease for machinery industry reached 328 tons in 2025, with an average price of US$281/kg.

Fluorine-based grease for machinery industry is a high-performance industrial grease made with perfluoropolyether (PFPE), fluorosilicone oil, or partially fluorinated synthetic oil as base oil, and thickeners such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), calcium sulfonate, or polyurea. Compared with aerospace and automotive grade products, fluorine-based grease for machinery industry maintains a wide temperature range (-30℃ to 260℃), chemical inertness, and extremely long service life, while being cost-optimized for the harsh operating conditions of industrial equipment (heavy load, corrosion, dust, moisture). It is mainly used for long-term maintenance-free lubrication of critical industrial equipment, solving the failure problem of traditional mineral oil-based greases in extreme environments such as high temperature, corrosion, and radiation.

The raw material system of fluorinated greases uses perfluoroolefins as the core monomers, mainly including hexafluoropropylene (HFP) and tetrafluoroethylene (TFE), which are converted into perfluoropolyether base oils through photo-oxidation or anionic polymerization. The thickener uses high-purity polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) micropowder (typically <5μm particle size) and requires special surface treatment to enhance compatibility with the base oil. The additive system includes solid lubricants such as fluorinated graphite and fluorinated mica, as well as antioxidants and rust inhibitors. All components require perfluorination to ensure chemical compatibility. The production process must be carried out in an anhydrous and oxygen-free environment with high cleanliness. The base oil synthesis involves photochemical reactions or high-pressure anionic polymerization, which is complex and results in low yields. The thickening process employs special dispersion technology to ensure uniform suspension of PTFE and prevent phase separation.

In terms of cost structure, raw material costs account for a very high proportion (approximately 70-80%), with perfluoroolefin monomers being expensive (hexafluoropropylene approximately 500,000-800,000 RMB/ton), and the monomer conversion rate during polymerization typically only reaching 60-80%. Among processing costs, energy consumption for photo-oxidation or anionic polymerization, equipment depreciation (requiring Hastelloy reactors resistant to fluorine corrosion), and the use of ultrapure solvents are the main factors.

Global key Fluorine-Based Grease for Machinery Industry players cover DuPont, Chemours, Syensqo, Kluber Lubrication, Huskey, etc.
