Vista general
Scope of the Report
The global Flexible Solar Array market size is predicted to grow from US$ 128 million in 2025 to US$ 381 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 17.0% from 2026 to 2032.
Flexible Solar Array refers to an array of solar panels made of flexible materials, which can be bent, folded, or rolled up without damaging the solar cells. The flexible solar panels are attached to a flexible substrate (polyimide), allowing for roll-up storage with a very high folding ratio and lightweight design. Compared to traditional rigid solar arrays, the biggest advantage of flexible solar arrays is their adaptability, enabling use on non-planar surfaces or in confined spaces. Flexible solar arrays utilize ultra-thin flexible substrates, typically no more than 0.5 mm thick, with an overall thickness controlled to approximately 1 mm. This results in a 20%–40% weight reduction for the same area, a cell power conversion efficiency exceeding 30%, and a storage volume more than 60% smaller than traditional rigid solar arrays, while the unfolded area can reach 1.5 times or even more. This design not only significantly reduces launch costs but also frees up fairing space, improving satellite design flexibility and on-orbit power supply capabilities. While traditional satellites primarily use rigid solar arrays, the rise of commercial spaceflight necessitates lighter, more flexible, and more efficient solar arrays for lightweight, highly integrated, and long-life satellites. In 2025, the global capacity of Flexible Solar Array is estimated at approximately 771.36 kW, with an average price of approximately US$169.01 per watt and a gross margin of approximately 40%.
Global key Flexible Solar Array players cover SpaceX, Airbus, Redwire, CASC, GalaxySpace, etc.

Systematic collection from 500+ verified sources including SEC filings, industry databases (Bloomberg, Statista, OECD), regulatory filings, trade publications, patent databases, and company annual reports. AI-assisted extraction identifies relevant data points across 10,000+ documents per report.
Dual-validation approach: bottom-up sizing aggregates segment-level production, consumption, and trade data; top-down sizing cross-validates against macroeconomic indicators and total addressable market estimates. Discrepancies >5% trigger analyst review.
Company profiles built from public financial disclosures, product launches, M&A activity, job postings (as capability proxies), and supply chain mapping. Market share estimates triangulated across revenue, capacity, and shipment data.
CAGR projections use time-series regression on 5-10 years of historical data, adjusted for identified demand drivers (technology adoption curves, regulatory catalysts, demographic shifts) and demand inhibitors (cost barriers, substitution risk). Scenario modeling covers base, optimistic, and conservative cases.
All quantitative outputs reviewed by a domain-specialist analyst before publication. Data triangulation requires minimum 3 independent sources for every key figure. Reports undergo a structured peer review against our 47-point quality checklist covering methodology, data citations, logical consistency, and formatting standards.
On-demand reports are generated at time of purchase, incorporating the most recent available data. Static reports are republished when underlying market conditions shift by >10% from baseline assumptions. Purchasers receive update notifications for 12 months.
