Scope of the Report

The global Otto Cycle Engine market size is predicted to grow from US$ 5,005 million in 2025 to US$ 6,438 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.7% from 2026 to 2032.

The Otto cycle is a thermodynamic process for spark ignition internal combustion engines. Invented by German engineer Nikolaus Otto, the cycle has been in use since 1876, a little over 145 years ago. In the Otto cycle we can find two types of engines: four-stroke and two-stroke. This difference is based on the number of revolutions of the crankshaft.

At present, 99% of the world"s ships are driven by reciprocating internal combustion engines, which are the main form of ship power. The global shipments of other forms of power are less than 1,000, accounting for less than 1%. The reciprocating internal combustion engine with a power of more than 1000 watts has the highest efficiency, long life, and significant advantages in economic reliability compared with other power forms. The reciprocating internal combustion engine can adapt to environmental protection requirements through low-carbon fuels, and can form a hybrid power system with motors and batteries to further improve the overall efficiency of the ship"s power system. Therefore, the reciprocating internal combustion engine will still occupy the dominant position in ship power in the future.
