Scope of the Report

The global Phosphine Oxide market size is predicted to grow from US$ 519 million in 2025 to US$ 738 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.2% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global Phosphine Oxide output reached about 120,000 tons and global capacity of around 130,000 tons. The average price is about USD 4,200 per ton, with gross margins near 28%. Phosphine Oxide refers to a class of organophosphorus compounds containing a phosphorus–oxygen double bond (P=O), with the general formula R₃P=O, where R represents alkyl, aryl, or functionalized organic groups. These compounds are characterized by high thermal stability, strong polarity, and excellent coordination ability, making them valuable as flame retardant intermediates, catalyst ligands, extractants for rare earth and metal separation, pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates, electrolyte additives, polymer modifiers, and specialty chemical building blocks. Commercial production typically begins with phosphorus-containing raw materials such as elemental phosphorus, phosphorus trichloride (PCl₃), phosphine (PH₃), or organophosphorus intermediates, which are reacted with Grignard reagents, organolithium compounds, or other organic feedstocks to produce tertiary phosphines. These phosphines are subsequently oxidized using oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, organic peroxides, or other oxidizing agents to form the corresponding phosphine oxides with high selectivity. The supply chain includes upstream suppliers of phosphorus, chlorine, petrochemical feedstocks, aromatic compounds, and oxidizing agents; midstream manufacturers specializing in organophosphorus synthesis, purification, and formulation; and downstream users across the chemical, electronics, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, agrochemical, polymer, mining, and advanced materials industries, where phosphine oxides serve as functional additives, synthesis intermediates, metal extraction agents, and high-performance specialty chemicals.
