Scope of the Report

The global Chemically-strengthened and Sapphire Glass market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1,899 million in 2025 to US$ 2,289 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 2.7% from 2026 to 2032.

Chemically-strengthened Glass is glass that has been treated with a chemical process after it was manufactured to render it stronger. The chemical process is called an ion-exchange reaction. During this process, glass is submerged in a bath of potassium salt or potassium nitrate at 300 degrees Celsius. The bath isn’t hot enough to melt the glass, but the relatively high temperature allows the potassium nitrate to react with the surface of the glass, causing ions to be exchanged and compacted, thereby strengthening the glass.

Sapphire is a single crystal of alumina with a unique lattice structure, wear resistance and wind erosion resistance, and its hardness is second only to diamond. It has excellent light transmittance, special conductivity and electrical insulation, and is an ideal substrate material for LEDs and SOS.

In recent years, sapphire has officially entered the consumer electronics market, and consumer electronics has opened up new market space for the sapphire industry.

Global chemically-strengthened and sapphire glass main manufactuers include Corning, Asahi Glass, Nippon Electric Glass and Schott, etc., totally holding a share for 94% of the market. Asia Pacific is the largest market of chemically-strengthened and sapphire glass, with a share about 99%. As for the types of products, it can be divided into chemically-strengthened glass and sapphire. The most common product is chemically-strengthened glass, with a share over 94%. In terms of applications, it is widely used in smartphones and tablets, smart wearable devices, aerospace and others. The most commom application is in smartphones and tablets, with a share over 90%.
