Scope of the Report

In 2025, global production of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) reached 130,968 tons, with an average selling price of US$57.2 per kilogram. Global annual production capacity of CFRP is approximately 200,000 tons, with a gross profit margin of approximately 20.2%. CFRP is a composite material made by impregnation, molding, and curing processes using carbon fiber as the reinforcing phase and a polymer matrix (usually resins such as epoxy resins or polyester resins) as the matrix. Carbon fiber provides high strength and high modulus, as well as low density; the resin matrix binds the carbon fiber bundles or fabric together, transferring loads, protecting the fibers, and imparting formability to the material. CFRP combines the excellent mechanical properties of fibers with the processability of the matrix, exhibiting a high strength-to-weight ratio, excellent rigidity, corrosion resistance, and fatigue performance. It is widely used in aerospace, automotive, wind power, and sporting goods industries, but its cost is relatively high and its production and recycling processes are complex. The upstream of the carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) industry chain includes polyacrylonitrile, asphalt and viscose fiber, the midstream is carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) manufacturers, and the downstream is mainly the automotive, aerospace and military and sports industries.

The industry trend for Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composites (CFRP) is experiencing sustained growth and diversification. CFRP's remarkable properties, including its lightweight nature and high strength, have led to its increased adoption in industries like aerospace and automotive, where weight reduction and fuel efficiency are paramount. Advances in manufacturing processes, such as automated lay-up and 3D printing, are improving the cost-effectiveness and scalability of CFRP production. Additionally, sustainability is gaining prominence, with efforts to develop recyclable or bio-based CFRP materials. As industries seek to optimize performance while minimizing environmental impact, CFRP is likely to remain a key player in advanced materials.
