Vue d'ensemble

Scope of the Report

The global Industrial Grade Phosphorus Trichloride market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1,467 million in 2025 to US$ 2,235 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.2% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global Industrial Grade Phosphorus Trichloride (PCl₃) production reached approximately 1 million tons, with an average global market price of around US$ 1,500 per ton.

The gross profit margin of major companies in the industry is between 15% – 30%.

In 2025, the global production capacity of industrial grade phosphorus trichloride was approximately 1.33 million tons.

Industrial Grade Phosphorus Trichloride (PCl₃) is an important inorganic chemical intermediate. It is a colorless, fuming liquid that reacts violently with water. Industrially, it is primarily produced by the direct chlorination of yellow phosphorus. Its primary use is as a key precursor in the manufacture of organophosphorus compounds, most importantly for the production of glyphosate herbicide, as well as other pesticides, plasticizers, and flame retardants. Due to its hazardous nature (corrosive, reacts with water releasing HCl), it requires careful handling and transportation.

The industrial chain of Industrial Grade PCl₃ covers upstream raw materials such as yellow phosphorus, chlorine gas, and energy. The midstream consists of large-scale chemical companies that operate integrated phosphorus chemistry plants, producing PCl₃ and often further processing it into derivatives like phosphorus oxychloride (POCl₃) or glyphosate. Downstream, the majority of PCl₃ is consumed captively within the same company or sold to manufacturers of agrochemicals (herbicides, insecticides), flame retardants, and pharmaceutical intermediates. The ecosystem also includes suppliers of phosphorus and chlorine, logistics companies for hazardous chemicals, and engineering firms specializing in chemical plant design.

Global key Industrial Grade Phosphorus Trichloride players cover Taixing Shenlong Chemical, Fu Tong Chemical, Jiangsu Jibao Technology, Wynca, Xuzhou JianPing Chemical, etc.
