Scope of the Report

The global Freshwater Floating Solar System market size is predicted to grow from US$ 3,571 million in 2025 to US$ 8,853 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.9% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global Freshwater Floating Solar System production reached approximately 2,226 sets, with an average global market price of around USD 1,640,000 per set.

The gross profit margin of major companies in the industry is between 14.58%–28.36%.

In 2025, the global production capacity of Freshwater Floating Solar System was approximately 2,928 sets.

Freshwater Floating Solar System is a photovoltaic power generation system installed on inland freshwater bodies such as reservoirs, lakes, ponds, irrigation basins and water treatment facilities. It combines floating platforms, solar modules, anchoring systems, electrical equipment, walkways and monitoring systems to generate clean electricity without occupying land. The system can reduce water evaporation, improve land-use efficiency and support distributed or utility-scale renewable power projects. The market includes floating PV systems for freshwater environments, but excludes offshore floating solar, land-based PV plants and standalone floating platforms without power generation functions.

The industry chain includes solar modules, floating pontoons, polymer materials, aluminum or steel structures, anchoring components, cables, inverters, combiner boxes, monitoring devices and installation equipment. Midstream activities include system design, buoyancy calculation, structural assembly, anchoring layout, electrical integration, grid connection, testing and operation support. Downstream demand comes from reservoirs, hydropower stations, water utilities, industrial ponds, irrigation districts, mining ponds, municipalities and renewable energy developers. Growth is driven by land constraints, renewable energy targets, water surface utilization, lower evaporation and hybridization with hydropower assets.

Water resource utilization and clean energy development drive the promotion of freshwater floating solar systems. It makes full use of water areas for power generation and saves land resources. The water cooling effect helps improve the power generation efficiency of solar panels.
