Scope of the Report
The global Eucalyptus Logs & Lumber market size is predicted to grow from US$ 3,151 million in 2025 to US$ 4,143 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.0% from 2026 to 2032.
Eucalyptus logs and lumber refer to commercial eucalyptus roundwood, sawlogs and sawn timber products made from trees of the genus Eucalyptus, mainly including logs, rough sawn timber, kiln-dried lumber, boards, planks, squares and dimension lumber. The upstream supply chain mainly includes eucalyptus plantations, selected native eucalyptus hardwood resources, forest management, harvesting services, sawmilling equipment, drying kilns, wood treatment materials and transportation services. Downstream customers include pallet and packaging manufacturers, furniture and joinery producers, flooring and interior product manufacturers, construction material suppliers and industrial timber processors. On a conservative ex-factory and external commercial sales basis, excluding captive internal log use and downstream converted products, global externally saleable capacity is estimated at about 28.50 million m³ in 2025, with actual sales volume of about 23.86 million m³, an average ex-factory selling price of about USD 135 per m³ and an industry gross margin of around 13%–24%.
The global eucalyptus logs and lumber market is characterized by concentrated resource regions, fragmented processing capacity, and clear differences in product grades. Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, South Africa, and Australia have developed relatively stable commercial supply based on plantation resources, harvesting systems, and sawmilling capabilities. Australia is more focused on higher-value eucalyptus hardwood products, while South America and Africa are more oriented toward logs, packaging timber, construction-related materials, and general industrial timber. Compared with more standardized softwood lumber, eucalyptus logs and lumber are more affected by species, log diameter, drying quality, and regional processing capability, resulting in wider differences in price and product positioning.
On the demand side, pallets and packaging, furniture and joinery, construction materials, flooring, and interior products remain the main application areas. As natural hardwood supply becomes more restricted, timber legality requirements become stricter, and customers pay more attention to sustainable materials, plantation eucalyptus is gaining broader acceptance in selected hardwood substitution scenarios. In cost-sensitive applications such as packaging, industrial timber, and construction formwork, eucalyptus has advantages in short rotation cycles, stable supply, and relatively good processing adaptability. In furniture, flooring, and interior products, demand depends more on drying stability, appearance grade, dimensional consistency, and downstream processing yield.
Future growth is expected to come more from product upgrading than from simple expansion of log supply. Producers with plantation access, sawmilling assets, kiln-drying capacity, grading systems, and export channels will be better positioned to move from low-value logs and green lumber toward kiln-dried lumber, planed lumber, dimension lumber, and higher-grade hardwood products. Red Grandis lumber, Australian eucalyptus hardwood, and well-dried specification-based products still have room to expand in furniture, doors and windows, interior decoration, and engineered woodwork applications. At the same time, producers are likely to place greater emphasis on certification, traceable sourcing, moisture control, and customized dimensions to improve product premiums and access higher-value customers.
The industry still faces several constraints. Eucalyptus wood can have internal growth stress, drying checks, warping, and species-level variability, which increases requirements for sawing practice, drying schedules, and grading management. Without sufficient process control, products are difficult to upgrade into higher-value applications. In addition, fluctuations in construction and real estate cycles, ocean freight costs, regional harvesting policies, forest certification requirements, and competition from pulp, panels, and other downstream users for eucalyptus resources may affect the availability of marketable logs and lumber. Overall, the market is expected to develop steadily, but the basis of competition will increasingly shift from resource access to processing quality, standardized supply, certification compliance, and end-customer development capability.
