Scope of the Report

The global Cryotherapy Ablation Device for Tumor Treatment market size is predicted to grow from US$ 542 million in 2025 to US$ 2,705 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 26.3% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global sales of cryoablation devices for tumor treatment reached 806 units, with an average price of $687,000 per unit.

Cryoablation refers to a method of freezing diseased tissue through low-temperature technology to achieve in situ inactivation of solid tissue. The working principle is to use low temperature to quickly cool down the diseased tissue to destroy cells, causing cell necrosis or apoptosis, thereby achieving the purpose of treatment. Since cryoablation uses the physical method of energy exchange to achieve the purpose of treatment, its trauma and side effects to the human body are much lower than conventional radiotherapy and chemotherapy, so it is hailed as a "green therapy".

The raw materials for tumor cryoablation devices fall into two main categories: materials for the main unit and materials for disposable consumables. Regarding the main unit, core components include a high-precision gas control system (comprising pressure sensors, flow control valves, and solenoid valves), a touchscreen display and control system, vacuum-insulated gas lines, an aluminum alloy or stainless steel chassis frame, and a power management system. These components demand extremely high standards of precision manufacturing and electronic component quality; furthermore, due to regulatory requirements (such as FDA, CE, and NMPA), manufacturers often rely on single-source strategies for critical parts, making supply chain substitution difficult. As the core consumable, the cryoablation needle utilizes the following materials: needle tip material (Inconel 625 nickel-chromium alloy for MRI-compatible versions, or AISI 316L stainless steel for non-MRI-compatible versions); handle material (copper, insulated with heat-shrink tubing); catheter material (polyurethane); and connector material (polyoxymethylene/POM). Additionally, materials are required for vacuum insulation layers, welding solder (for vacuum exhaust sealing), and sterile packaging. The gas supply system relies on high-pressure argon and helium cylinders, along with associated high-pressure piping and pressure-reducing valves.

In terms of cost structure, cryoablation devices exhibit the characteristics of a classic "razor-and-blade" business model. Although the main unit commands a high price (hundreds of thousands of dollars), profits are primarily derived from high-margin disposable consumables (the cryoablation needles). Taking a disposable cryoablation needle as an example, the retail price ranges from approximately RMB 8,000 to 18,800 per unit or higher, whereas raw material costs (stainless steel/nickel-chromium alloy needle shafts, polyurethane catheters, polyoxymethylene connectors, vacuum insulation materials, etc.) account for only 10–20% of the price. Key cost drivers include: ① Precision manufacturing processes—the probe requires a vacuum insulation layer structure, involving complex procedures such as vacuum exhaust welding and stepped-hole sealing, which demand extremely high machining precision; ② Sterile production environment—assembly and packaging must be carried out in cleanrooms; ③ Regulatory compliance costs—significant investment is required for the registration, clinical validation, and quality system establishment of Class III medical devices; and ④ R&D amortization—investments in developing novel phase-change refrigeration technology, intelligent temperature control algorithms, and imaging integration systems must be recouped through the sale of consumables. Costs for the main console unit are primarily concentrated in the electronic control system (approx. 30–40%), precision gas piping (approx. 20–25%), chassis structure (approx. 10–15%), and software system (approx. 15–20%). Notably, supply chain risk is high due to the reliance on single-source suppliers for key raw materials and components; any upstream capacity constraints or quality issues directly impact the production of the complete unit and clinical supply.
