概観
Scope of the Report
The global dToF LiDAR market size is predicted to grow from US$ 344 million in 2025 to US$ 5,480 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 48.3% from 2026 to 2032.
dToF LiDAR (Direct Time-of-Flight LiDAR) is typically pulsed ToF: it emits short laser pulses, detects the return, and directly measures the round-trip time Δt, converting distance by ≈c·Δt/2. Unlike iToF (phase-based) or FMCW LiDAR, dToF relies on direct timing, often combined with highly sensitive receivers and precise timing electronics to achieve long-range and wide dynamic-range ranging.
The upstream stack includes emitter + receiver + timing/processing + opto-mechanics: 905 nm or 1550/1535 nm sources with collimation/beam shaping; receiver technologies such as APD, SPAD arrays, or SiPM with analog front-ends; and timing paths using TDCs plus histogram/waveform processing, which strongly influence range, precision, and measurement rate. Mechanical/packaging elements include scanning/beam steering (rotary, MEMS, solid-state), thermal design, and automotive/industrial reliability requirements.
Downstream demand centers on 3D perception and point clouds: automotive ADAS/autonomy for long-range obstacle detection and scene reconstruction; robotics/industrial safety for avoidance, zone protection, and SLAM; and mapping/UAV/infrastructure inspection for accurate 3D capture. Pulsed dToF is often favored for its straightforward ranging principle and potential robustness, but system performance is constrained by eye-safety power limits and return SNR under challenging conditions.
In 2025, global sales of dToF LiDAR reached approximately 842 K units, with an average global market price of around US$ 418/unit. Production capacity varies significantly among manufacturers, with gross profit margins ranging from approximately 10% to 40%.
Direct time-of-flight (dToF) LiDAR in automotive is moving from “premium add-on” to broader mainstream adoption, driven by higher-level ADAS needs for redundant perception. In challenging conditions—night driving, glare, low-texture objects, and long-range obstacle detection—dToF provides accurate depth and 3D geometry that helps reduce missed detections and false positives. At the same time, OEM architectures are shifting toward sensor fusion with domain/central computing: cameras and radar contribute robustness and semantics, while dToF contributes precise geometry and absolute ranging, making the overall system more production-ready.
The market, however, is under intense engineering and cost pressure. OEMs push for tighter bill-of-material targets, better styling integration, higher reliability, and supply assurance. This accelerates the transition from mechanical to (semi-)solid-state designs and from higher power to more efficient, chip-centric implementations. As ASPs decline, suppliers must defend margins via silicon integration, advanced packaging, manufacturing automation, and scale—competition increasingly centers on deliverability, quality consistency, and total lifecycle cost rather than headline specs alone.
Opportunities concentrate in two areas: (1) broader factory-fit deployment as LiDAR becomes a platform feature across multiple vehicle lines, and (2) value migration from hardware toward software and operational capabilities—calibration, health monitoring/diagnostics, contamination handling, degradation management, and functional-safety co-design with perception stacks—where differentiation and pricing power are more sustainable.
