Overzicht

Scope of the Report

The global Electronic Grade Hydrocarbon Resin market size is predicted to grow from US$ 52.04 million in 2025 to US$ 1,539 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 54.6% from 2026 to 2032.

Electronic-grade hydrocarbon resins generally refer to low-polarity resins (or their curable/crosslinkable formulations) with a hydrocarbon backbone (olefins/dienes/styrenes, etc.) as the main component. After directional design and verification for electrical properties, reliability, processability, and cleanliness, these resins are used as the matrix resin for prepregs and can be extended to organic insulating material systems such as high-frequency/high-speed copper clad laminates (CCLs) and ABFs for packaging substrates. The goal is to achieve lower Dk/Df, lower water absorption, higher heat resistance and dimensional stability, and to meet the standardized requirements of board systems (such as the IPC-4101 performance requirements framework for laminates/prepregs).

Electronic-grade hydrocarbon resin is an important new material for the production of high-end copper-clad laminates (an important basic material for printed circuit boards). It is mainly used as the electrical insulation layer of high-frequency copper-clad laminates, and its end applications are in computing centers, robotics, autonomous driving, communications, and semiconductor chip packaging.

Electronic Grade Hydrocarbon Resin is a specialized synthetic polymer engineered to have low dielectric constant (Dk) and low dissipation factor (Df). These properties are crucial because they ensure minimal signal loss and maintain signal integrity as data rates escalate and operating frequencies move into the millimeter-wave spectrum. Unlike traditional materials, it also offers excellent thermal stability, moisture resistance, and mechanical strength. Beyond PCBs, specific derivatives are used in semiconductor manufacturing, for instance, as high-carbon-content underlayer films in lithography processes to provide exceptional etching resistance.
