PERC front silver paste is a screen-printable, fire-through silver-based metallization paste used to form the front-side grid electrodes (fingers/busbars) on PERC crystalline-silicon solar cells. During firing, the paste enables electrical contact through the front SiNx antireflection/passivation layer to the emitter while maintaining low resistivity and good adhesion.

Upstream, it is typically formulated from silver powder (conductive phase), glass frit (inorganic binder/contact-enabling phase), and an organic vehicle (binders/solvents + rheology/dispersing additives). The glass frit chemistry (often PbO-containing or lead-free variants) is crucial for reacting with/penetrating the SiNx layer and assisting contact formation during firing. Downstream, the paste is used in PERC cell lines via screen printing → drying → belt-furnace co-firing, producing the final front Ag grid; the cells are then interconnected and laminated into PV modules.
