Scope of the Report

The global Glass Fiber for Composite Insulators market size is predicted to grow from US$ 84.37 million in 2025 to US$ 138 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.2% from 2026 to 2032.

Glass Fiber for Composite Insulators refers to continuous glass fiber reinforcement materials specifically used in the load-bearing and insulating structures of composite insulators. These materials are primarily supplied as E-glass or corrosion-resistant ECR-glass direct rovings or assembled rovings. They are typically combined with epoxy resin and processed by pultrusion to form high-strength FRP/GRP core rods or insulating tubes, which serve as the main mechanical load-bearing and internal insulating components of composite insulators. The glass fibers are required to provide high tensile strength, excellent electrical insulation, corrosion and acid resistance, low moisture absorption, and long-term aging resistance. They are widely used in suspension, tension, line post, station post, railway, and other high-voltage composite insulators. The price of glass fiber for composite insulators is mainly influenced by glass composition, sizing formulation, roving specifications, acid resistance, and product qualification requirements. In 2025–2026, bulk procurement prices for standard E-glass direct rovings and assembled rovings were generally around US$700–1,000 per ton, while corrosion-resistant ECR glass fiber and dedicated grades for composite insulators typically ranged from US$900–1,500 per ton. Premium products featuring low void content, improved brittle-fracture resistance, or customized sizing systems may reach US$1,500–2,500 per ton or higher.

The upstream segment of the value chain includes mineral raw materials such as pyrophyllite, kaolin, limestone, and boron-containing materials, as well as silane coupling agents and sizing chemicals. In the midstream segment, manufacturers such as China Jushi, Owens Corning, CPIC, and Taishan Fiberglass produce E-glass and ECR-glass rovings. Products used for insulator core rods require good compatibility with epoxy resin, high electrical insulation performance, mechanical strength, and corrosion resistance. Downstream, the glass fiber is combined with epoxy resin and processed through pultrusion to manufacture FRP core rods, which are then used in suspension, tension, line post, station post, railway, and other composite insulators. The final products are mainly applied in power transmission and distribution grids and railway electrification systems.
