Overzicht

Scope of the Report

The global High Voltage Discharge Rod market size is predicted to grow from US$ 284 million in 2025 to US$ 377 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.1% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global high voltage discharge rod production reached approximately 223 k units, the average price is 1300 usd/unit. A high voltage discharge rod is an insulated handheld tool used to safely release residual charge to the ground before installing/removing the grounding wire of high-voltage equipment during maintenance. Its front end is a metal discharge hook/clamp, connected to a grounding soft copper wire via a current-limiting resistor, and the rod itself is an insulated operating rod. During operation, first ensure reliable contact between the discharge end and the equipment, then ensure reliable grounding of the grounding end, thereby discharging static electricity and induced current and preventing electric shock or arcing.

Market Concentration and Major Players:

Internationally, the high-voltage discharge rod market is highly concentrated, mainly in developed countries such as Europe and the United States. Large manufacturers include Megger and Seaward. Domestically, the high-voltage discharge rod market still has significant room for growth.

Manufacturing Process and Market Trends:

The insulating rod of a high-voltage discharge rod is typically made of alkali-free fiberglass cloth impregnated with epoxy resin or other insulating materials. It is wound and pressurized into a mold, then demolded in sections at high temperature, finely ground and polished, and coated with a protective layer. The surface includes anti-slip grip sections and protective baffles. A copper discharge hook or clamp is fitted at the front end. Series and parallel metal film current-limiting resistors are arranged inside the rod cavity and fixed with insulating resin. Some designs use a weakly conductive liquid instead of solid resistors to reduce the risk of solder joint and seal failure. A soft copper grounding wire and grounding clamp are crimped to the tail end. Each rod undergoes electrical safety testing, including insulation resistance and power frequency withstand voltage tests, before leaving the factory.

As the UHV grid expands and the density of new energy power plant maintenance increases, products are shifting from extensive OEM manufacturing to high-reliability integrated insulation molding and lightweighting. Safety functions are being upgraded towards integrated voltage detection and discharge, visualization of discharge status, and embedded sensor self-testing and remote monitoring. At the same time, stricter compliance standards and environmental protection material requirements continue to raise the industry threshold, forcing the elimination of low-end production capacity.
