Overzicht
Scope of the Report
The global C/SiC Ceramic Matrix Composites market size is predicted to grow from US$ 5,870 million in 2025 to US$ 19,708 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 19.0% from 2026 to 2032.
Carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide composites (C/C-SiC) are high-performance composites with carbon fiber as reinforcement and silicon carbide as matrix, featuring high strength, high modulus, excellent heat resistance and thermal shock resistance. These materials can be fabricated by hot isostatic pressing, chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) and reaction bonding (RBSiC). Among them, CVI-prepared products are most widely used in aerospace and cutting-edge equipment due to their dense microstructure, outstanding high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.C/C-SiC composites prepared by precursor infiltration pyrolysis through 11 cycles of "impregnation-curing-pyrolysis" can achieve a density of 2.09 g/cm³, porosity of 7.6%, flexural strength of 468 MPa, tensile strength of 242 MPa, and fracture toughness of 19.6 MPa·m^(1/2). Products prepared by CVI combined with reactive melt infiltration (RMI) and post-heat treatment exhibit a flexural strength of up to 296.52 MPa.
In the supply and application chain, key upstream inputs include carbon fiber, silicon carbide raw materials and processing additives; the midstream consists of specialized manufacturing and processing, where precise control of process parameters directly determines material performance and quality consistency. Downstream applications mainly cover high-end equipment sectors such as aerospace, energy, nuclear industry and high-speed trains. The material is widely used in components including aero-engine combustors, missile fairings and spacecraft brake discs to withstand extreme high temperatures and friction-wear conditions, serving as a key material especially for aerospace and high-end braking systems.
The C/C-SiC composite market features high technical barriers and high concentration. Overseas enterprises including Brembo SGL, GE Aviation, Safran and Rolls-Royce possess mature manufacturing technologies and stable customer channels. Chinese companies such as Xi’an Xinyao Ceramic Composites, Xi’an Chaoma Technology, Beijing MOXA Technology and Boyun New Material are advancing domestic substitution through independent R&D, undertaking the development of high-end thermal structural components and thermal protection systems.
In 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology included silicon carbide composites and carbon-based composites in the 14th Five-Year Plan for industrial technological innovation. The National Key R&D Program of China also continues to support research and demonstration applications of such materials. Overall, C/C-SiC composites play an irreplaceable role in high-performance structural applications, with CVI-fabricated products delivering the best performance. Driven by demand from aerospace and high-end braking systems, the industry is dominated by technology-leading enterprises, while Chinese manufacturers are gradually increasing their market share through policy support and technological breakthroughs.
