Overzicht

Scope of the Report

The global Polyvinyl Acetate Adhesives market size is predicted to grow from US$ 3,325 million in 2025 to US$ 4,378 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.0% from 2026 to 2032.

Polyvinyl acetate adhesive (PVAc), commonly known as white glue or white adhesive, is a thermoplastic water-based adhesive made from vinyl acetate (VAc) monomers through emulsion polymerization. It is a green and environmentally friendly adhesive, widely used due to its high adhesion to porous materials such as wood, paper, and cotton fabrics, rapid room temperature curing, and transparent, non-toxic film.

The core raw material is vinyl acetate (VAM) monomer, usually produced by reacting ethylene or acetylene with acetic acid. Other components include polyvinyl alcohol as a protective colloid, initiators, and emulsifiers. Downstream applications include wood processing, papermaking, construction decoration, and textile industries.

Global sales in 2025 were approximately 3.46 million tons, with an average selling price of approximately US$982 per ton. The industry's gross profit margin is between 20% and 30%.

Industry consensus holds that despite the emergence of numerous new adhesives, polyvinyl acetate (PVC) adhesives remain a core substrate in sustainable packaging and green home furnishings due to their excellent biodegradability, water-based environmental properties, and natural affinity for porous materials such as wood and paper. Current research and development efforts are no longer limited to improving bond strength, but focus on overcoming their traditional shortcomings of poor water resistance and weak creep resistance through nanocellulose reinforcement, silane modification, and VAE (vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer) emulsion technology. This allows PVC applications to extend beyond indoor stationery and educational materials to structural woodworking adhesives and high-performance building waterproofing.
